And to think, we could have had Taylor Hall..... - Mancalledsting
I'll take someone that can score a little and play defense at this point. Ladd is going to have to work like crazy to make up for JT and PA's defense. |

Strome looks like crap. Looking more like the 50pts was a fluke. I'm not saying it was, but he's not showing anything and weight can F off with 4 forwards on the pp. leddy and pulock need to be on the points. Leddys shot isn't scaring anyone. |

Strome does look bad. Did Garth miss on a lot of these kids or is Cappy just that bad with young talent? |

Pulock should be on this team for his power play shot ALONE. Weight and Crapuano STILL can't figure it out. |

The team's ability to take penalties looks much improved compared to last year. |

Now the counter hits are OK and fun to reminisce on? These guys are (frank)ing terrible.
Butch's drunk ass is at least entertaining. |

Strome holy (frank) what a terrible giveaway on that goal.
Something has to give with him, one way or another. |

He's been absolutely awful.
Clutterbuck, on the other hand, is in midseason form |

I hope that rumoured deal sending him out west happens. |

Barzal, on the other hand, had a nice pass right before that. I don't know if the pass was that great, or that it just stood out relative to the overall lifeless play tonight. |

Garth better be on the phones looking to deal. You cannot be a serious Cup team with PA on the 1st line unless you have two other sure fire offensives players on the line. |

No idea what Strome's deal is? Has he been hanging out with Reinhart? Would be crazy for the Isles to have to move another lottery pick. |

I couldn't figure out if those window-licker announcers were complimenting him or insulting him earlier.
"Clutterbuck is a guy that hits high, agitates, hits low, hits hard, hits late, and gets under his opponents skin"
Uh..ok? |

Clutterbuck showed up tonight. Did the rest of the team forget to set their alarms?
I saw nothing from Seidenberg to make me think he deserves to start over Pulock. Parenteau doesn't deserve to be on the first line or the power play. Bailey was at best mediocre.
If the team plays like this for the next few weeks, maybe we'll finally get our regime change. |

Might be what it takes.
Have to hope that Ledecky wasn't bullsh!itting everyone with all his comments about spending and being proactive. |

I know it's preseason, but this is the Caps so the team should have put on a better effort. Lots of worrying signs. No way Seidenberg should play over Pulock. PA should not be anywhere near the top line. |

This is where you send a message early by dropping a guy like Bailey. That will send a message to the room. This team cannot be allowed to be comfortable like in the past. |

I know it's just preseason, but everybody looked pretty awful tonight. I'm just sick of the same poop every year. The PP again, 4 forwards with Leddy, leaving two huge shots (Boychuk/Pulock) on the bench.
And we can blame Cappy all we want but the reality is, they have three (not including Barzal) right handed shots on the entire team. With Strome playing center, you have two guys playing the off wing. Ideally, not to beat a dead horse, it would be nice to get a top line RW for Johnny to push PA to the second or third line. Then, I would have no problem with him, and he'd be good depth. |
