- UIF[Ladd will] be a welcome addition to the Islanders' locker room, but it's a stretch to see him as a 30-goal guy.
As opposed to Okposo who has never scored 30 goals?
I wouldn't sweat stuff like this. This is part of the same crowd that couldn't even pronounce "Frans," or half of the Islanders' names for that matter, when they were on national broadcasts as recently as two or three years ago.
It's why I've always hated Brooks' Islanders articles, too. I'd be pissed about the way things were going and would totally want to get on the hate train when I saw a critical Brooks article...but then I'd read it and realize it comes about as close to hitting on the real issues as the old Mike and the Mad Dog Milbury interviews used to.
yea not really angry but to think they are in last place is absurd and jt is a top 5 offensive player but two way wouldnt be my description of him. Ladds had 29 27 24 23 goal seasons and without the open space jt will get him. Okposo falls non stop hes skilled and can score but hes no power forward but i vuess if you have to follow 30 teams and really only pay attention to the good ones you wouldnt know much either

Hockey has a bad rep as it is without these dopes who cover the sport. Isles have things you can go after like coaching and PA on the first line without all these hockey experts going to KO and Frans leaving. I have no issue when anyone going after the Isles just get it right and do an honest job. |

There you have it. Seidenberg will be in the line up opening night. It was fun while it lasted Pulock. |

It's so bad if Pulock sits for Seidenberg or anyone else. Maybe the Isles had trouble from the backend because the spacing was off with the forwards so far ahead? Maybe the coaches should explain to the forwards they need to find the d zone and actually play some d? |

They sign this guy and everyone applauds the signing of our new "7th defenseman". Smart move Snowy. Guess everyone forgot diarrhea on ice Zidlicky because those same people were applauding that smart move also. We'll see but as usual Staple is paving the way for the stupidity the writing is on the wall. The moron trinity. |

The Isles are trying to copy the Pens. The big difference is the Pens coach demanded d and the Pens forwards bought in. This is Cappy blaming Pulock or anyone else instead of taking the blame himself for whatever lousy system he is playing. Sullivan would not put up with a player like Bailey letting guys skate right by him. |

Pulock has to work on d? What about guys like Bailey or Strait and many of the forwards? Cappy is a dope. Let a proven coach say Pulock has to work on his d. |

I'm sorry man this sounds like Spartiarti talking about Bailey .
Pulock was being applauded for his D zone coverage the last game he played and during that game they said he had the best + - in the preseason. Not sure what it is now but when they signed Seidenberg I knew it wouldn't matter . Some of you were worried he wouldn't be on the PP. He'll be lucky to be in the line up
We'll see I'll play the old give'em the benefit of the doubt game but if I were a betting man.... |

Im just saying if he doesnt start in the opener lets not panic he proved he could play in playoffs and is to good to be held out. That being said cappy is a moron and held him out for strait ect in the past. I can live with a game or two but not the donovan treantment was my point i want to see him play as much as possible [/img]
Also spartini defends Bailey no matter what now staple says pulock has made poor decisions on the breakout and that was a team problem last year and one they want fixed |

If I want to know the best place to get a pizza I'll ask Cappy. I'm not going to listen to anything he has to say about hockey. |

According to Staple, it sounds like Pulock does not know how to make a first pass? Mayfield was sent down because of decision making. Maybe if Mayfield got to play more over Strait it would have helped? - ses111
Decision making......and here everyone was saying it was his skating. |

Prince or Quine? Really? - Cptmjl
I don't think yak is going to score more than 10-12 goals this year with St. Louis and I'm tired of hoping someone else's trash turns to gold for us. I'd like a proven winger, not another risk.
The only reason anyone is talking about him is because he went 1st overall yet he's done nothing and people want to put him with Tavares on the top line yet went nuts that pa would be playing there despite the fact pa scored 20 goals last year. If yak hadn't been a 1st overall pick no one would even be talking about him. Gotta focus on the player at this stage and not where he was drafted. Griffin reinhart anyone? |

Yakupov scored 17 goals his rookie season that's almost more than shane prince has score his entire nhl career. I hear you and agree I want a top flight winger for JT also but we know what we're getting with PA. A player who is slower and less defensively sound than even okposo.
Yakupov at least has the potential to be something where as PA does not. If Snow is going to do nothing else which at this point all signs are pointing to that I'd rather him take a shot albeit a minimal one without risk like the Yakupov deal. No risk potentially high reward.
Honestly, I think it's hysterical that Snow is potentially standing pat with this line up. Anything can happen I know but there were needs that clearly once again were not filled. Let's see if Ledecky holds true to his word if this team starts to flounder a bit. |

Simple fact: Yakapov would be instantly better than half the guys on roster..... |

Well that's kind of my point. Rookies will never get better unless they play it's the coach's job to teach them. The Seidenberg signing was prophetic I'm shocked nobody saw this coming? I believe it was Staple that wrote that Pulock was the best islander in the preseason the game bfr last? Best + - up to that point. Funny how things changed after we signed Seidenberg. Let's see who is in the opening night line up. |

If that was the case he wouldn't have been traded within the oilers conference for next to nothing. You're overvaluing draft position. |

Well prince, Quine, strome thus far, PA, and probably a few others I don't care to mention bcs I don't feel like debating it for the next 3 hrs. The kid had a positive corsi and shored up his defensive game while playing with absolute plugs while not playing with McDavid. |

Nothing to do with draft position, easy assessment of skill, ability, shot that makes him a good prospect. Just bc the Oilers have sucked and him not meshing well with either team or coach doesnt mean kid isnt good. His speed and shot is way above average and something that this team lacks a bit.....
Maybe just maybe the losing got 2 him...??? |

Debating with some is ridiculous bc some go by stats and stuff instead of fully watching and maybe a change of scenery is needed.... |

Lack of effort and poor performance would be a pretty critical assessment. I don't see much value in him and fully expect him to head to the khl after this contract is over. |

He might - but I wouldn't bet on it. I'd rather have a proven player than waste another year on yet another project. |

Agreed. The problem is it doesn't look like we are getting that proven player. |
