Johnny "can't score on the road" yet was 6th in NHL scoring...can you imagine if he ever scores on the road? Art Ross and it wont even be close |

Meh. May as well take the time it takes. It would take more than Gaudreau in the lineup to get the Flames into the postseason this year. - OilyJay
How? Calgary shored up their biggest weaknesses and besides SJ California got weaker. It is well within the realm of possibility that Calgary makes it, possibly in the 2nd Seed (though it'll be quite the battle with LA and Anaheim).

I am pretty sure he has done all he needs to do in Jr. But I think its best not to have him in the NHL if he is not ready.
GOD dammit! - DuranDuran
I disagree with you. Tkachuk could learn a ton from being THE go to guy on the Knights.
I watched him play his first preseason game and I wasn't impressed. All he did that game was get into scrums and take penalties. I really think he needs a year to mature.
It isn't all about points and Memorial cups. |

Have not seen the kid play. Just read last year that he was a man among boys.

Flames don't currently have a better LW under contract. They've had pretty good success with Monahan and Bennett. Monahan didn't necessarily look ready either, but they didn't have any other centres worth giving the spot to. |

Lol calling Johnny a little puke when you have lucic! That's a bit rich!,and hopefully they sign him 8×7.5 my guess, if it's under 7 (highly unlikely )that would be masterful! This guys special, next Bennett then your core is locked, for the most part |

I get the feeling that he signs a 2 year deal at 6.5m per since the Flames seem really hesitant to go over 7m.
Since the deal isnt done yet, I think its going ot be more of a short term extension vs a mega long term unless 1 side starts to break their stance |

Does it truly shock you than an Oiler fan despises (yet grudgingly respects) a Flames player? |

Why more inclined on Bennett exactly though? He has not demonstrated anything close to JG production, and does not yet have a defined position/role on the team?
If it was 8 years at a super reasonable salary, sure, who wouldn't, but I would have a hard time committing anything serious in terms of dollar or term to SB based on 1 year of so-so production vs 2 years of elite production from JG.
What is quite interesting in my opinion, is that he and Johnny's Home/Road splits are directly inverse, which makes me think that, at home, he is drawing the tougher assignment and on the road, the opposition stacks against the first line and he has an easier time of things... Which is also why sometimes the home/road argument has no bearing on an argument of a player's worth. - rmull905
I just personally think the way he thinks and plays the game makes him the player with the most potential on this flames roster. IMO, prime Bennett is > prime Moni _ Johnny
At the moment, I see no real "holes" in his game that he won't develop in a few short years. However, Moni will always be a slower (relatively) player with less physicality and lower high-end skill (He can't really dangle around any good Dmen). Johnny on the other hand will be limited in many regards due to his size. His shot isn't elite. Both of them just have elite hockey sense (Moni has great shot, great vision, IQ), Johnny has great edges, high-end skill, and vision/IQ.
On the other hand. I don't see glaring weaknesses in Bennett's game that will harm him in the long run. He's literally got it all. Speed, skill, size (enough of it at least), physicality, vision, IQ, shot. |
