meh... i have no vested interest in this tournament... I just wanted the Nux players to escape uninjured and in better condition than going in... so your is entirely unwarranted... - kaptaan
I'm proud to say barely watched one minute of it. Glad that money grab is done and we made out injury free.

Article about Stetcher from yesterday
http://theprovince.com/sp...retch-to-make-the-canucks
They make mention of Hutton last year and how it was at least 3 or 4 great games before they thought he could make the team. - NorthNuck
The thing about Stecher is , this is not an 18 yr old kid that had two good games or three. He is turning heads at every level he plays.
He is smart, quick , sees the ice well, mature , positive attitude, and leads.
Canucks can hide behind the waiver exempt excuse so that they don't lose a guy like Larssen or Biega .
He made Edler look better and showed Hutton to be aggressive.
I would rather take a chance on Stecher being what he can or we can use Sbisa and get very little for the year to ride out his contract.
With a player like Stecher you will be attacking , with Sbisa you will be defending. Sometimes you should take chances. |

Speaking of Mathews. I would put money on Laine having a better season. - thundachunk
I cant see it. Matthews was by far the most ready prospect for the NHL IMO and has proved it against Laine at the World Championships and World Cup. Not to mention Laine will be in a tougher division, adjusting to NHL and probably will not have the opportunities being lower on the depth chart |

To be fair, Hutton wasn't an 18 year old kid either. I understand the need for offense on the back end, it can help make the game much much more entertaining to watch, but he may need seasoning before he can handle a full year in the nhl. He should be the 1st call up option from utica while playing top pairing minutes. |

A team that wants to make the playoffs would never choose Sbisa on their roster.
There will be a lynchmob for Benning if they send down Stecher and Canucks struggle. |

Why would we play Sbisa? Our bottom pairing is Tryamkin-Larsen |

This morning, Pratt called him the most exciting player the Canucks have seen since Pavel Bure.

Larsen would have to be pretty bad to lose his spot. He is far more proven than Stetcher and he requires waivers. |

Larsen has to show something in the preseason. Stecher looks like he is still in his ncaa finals form. |

Ok, I can buy the waivers argument, but c'mon, more proven? He couldn't even crack Edmonton's D-core and then ran to the KHL. He's going to have to match Stetcher at this point because the Canucks are only going to carry one PP QB for the 3rd pairing and right now based on performance, it ain't Larsen. |

Actually I heard quite a bit that EDM tried hard to get him back there but Larsen told them to go pound it. |

What I think is Stetcher played one good game yes and he looks to be the better player at this very moment. But in order for him to make the team, he needs to play at this level for the rest of preseason, and hope that Larsen doesn't find good form. I expect Larsen to get better in the next couple games and that could make the waiver factor the deciding one. |
