I was actually thinking one of the top 6 dmen and still being able to keep Mayfield as the 7th. Dehaan might be the odd man out in the near future because of the expansion draft - Vukota
Staple has mentioned that de Haan (and Nelson) may be moved to avoid having him claimed. Maybe this expedites that process? I honestly don't know. Seidenberg has had some major knee issues in the past and I'm not totally sure that I'm comfortable relying on him for a full-time job. |

I just hope it wasn't done because of Boychuk's nagging injury. - JimmyP

Don't believe this is a response to a possible long-term Boychuk injury, simply adding to depth. Seidenberg can play both sides. |

Maybe after the season, can't fathom them doing that now. - eichiefs9
I would do it now especially if it brought back a #1 wing. Garth may or may not be the GM in the summer. I would think he would want to push for improvements now? |

Probably right, I would just hate to see Mayfield get the Donovan treatment |

@DarrenDreger
7 teams were in on Seidenberg, including Ottawa. All wanted to wait, but Isles step up. 1 yr, $1 million. Good deal.

#Isles have agreed to terms with Dennis Seidenberg, as @DarrenDreger reported. One year, $1 million. - eichiefs9
Don't know why anyone would have a problem with this. Especially with Boychuks "nagging" injury. Good to have a solid 7th. Much better than Strait. |

I think this signing is a precursor to another move. With the expansion draft coming, the Isles can only protect 4 dmen. Now, that looks like Pulock, Hammer, Leddy & Boychuk. Meaning CDH and/or Hickey are going to be unprotected. One of them may be getting moved for a forward now that Siedenberg is in the fold. |

why would Boychuk be protected. he make a pretty healthy paycheck and seems to have some injury issues. No way someone going to take his contract in expansion with that risk. |

He's required to be because of his NMC/NTC. |

No movement clauses have to automatically be protected. Don't have a choice with him, JT, and Ladd. |
