It's best just to ignore preseason games.

Hiller, Ramo, and Ortio all put up ridiculous numbers in the preseason last year.

I know it's tough, but try and not even look at the on ice product for 2 more weeks.

Blues D was not that great last season...they gave up 50 shots in a playoff game yet people still think they are the 1995 Devils

Any term being thrown around? If I'm Elliot I want 6 years to call it a day, but if I'm the Flames probably 2 after this 1. So do we call it 4 years? That term will delay Gillies wouldn't it?? Elliot would probably want around 5m per wouldn't he? Who here would call that risky?

I don't think Elliott is getting a 4-6 year contract without playing a single game

Is Ortio still projecting to be the goalie of the future in Calgary? How has he been developing? I didn't see him play at all last season.

Edit: read a bit further. I was confused by the comment earlier on because I thought Gillies was the big prospect tender.

Just because you have talks about an extension doesn't mean it's imminent ...could be just a starting point

The number of Elliots in this thread is enraging. Its ELLIOTT! Two T's people!

I think he'll do just fine. He lost his confidence once in St. Louis, went down to the AHL , played lights out, got called back up, and he has been pretty much perfect since. I do think he is only a 50-60 games per year goalie though.

Enough to start the buzz it seems. May be ducks & drakes here a little from the organisation though???

Instead of "Hunkulese" you should just change your name to "Crap-on-everything-about-the-Flames-ulese".

I'm sure you think you're tempering expectations, but had Elliott and Johnson given up 6 goals apiece, we would be talking about whether or not we are running into another Hiller/Ramo/Ortio season of goaltending.

Let's just TRY to think positively. I agree not to base the whole season's expectations based on what we see in preseason, split-squad games, but I would much rather see them posting solid appearances than laying an egg at this point.

Happy thoughts

I, for one, welcome criticism in this thread. What are we? Leafs fans? Will our threads eventually devolve into half-sentence posts about nonsense and comparing our golfing polar bear avatars?

Criticism is fine, blatant negativity for no point is a waste of time. It's ok to feel good about something once in a while.
