Trouba would give us a top paring for a long time...i would be willing to sacrifice Nylander for him. Not sure who would have to add...but with D being hard to find, i think we would add a bit. But what do i know. One thing i do know is I wouldn't deal Reilly or Marner for him.
- TincupCanuck

You wouldn't have to sacrifice Nylander for Trouba. First reason is that would be dumb. Second is that Chevy wants an LD of similar age and talent. The only chip the Leafs have is Gardiner, and that offer can most likely be beaten.

Didn't want to trade within the conference in case the trade blows up and happens to be horribly one sided against them?
- TheMussel

alright fine.
probably a better answer than mine.

How is that Trouba asked for a trade in May but the Oilers still managed to somehow not swing a Hall for Trouba deal instead of what they actually did?
- BINGO!

Asking for a trade doesn't always end up the players way anymore.

Yakupov is still with the Oilers.

Drouin will end up staying with Tampa.

Jets seem open to trading Trouba but they can take their sweet time doing so until the return they get is worth it.

The player might change his mind at some point if this takes too long. Just like Drouin did.

True.
But when something comes along that fits the age group and quality of your group......

- Fakepartofme

well if you factor in the age and contract...maybe not
Teams need to take advantage of the Entry level players and the value they bring in being able to build teams. Isnt Trouba looking for 5 or 6 scmil?

If you can lock up Jacob Trouba long term at 5M per year, you do that and you run around town yelling how lucky you are.

Ok good, cause when it's hard, it acts like a rudder and helps me make sharper turns on my run.

A (frank)ing bargain.

With Hanifin next to him on ELC.

Insane.

Now if only Carolina managed to get a (frank)ing team around those two huh?

How do you think Skinner will do this year? He had a good one last season but will it stick?

For some reason no-one seemed to want to believe that he would actually be available. Not sure who makes the move for him but Hall/Larsson might've set a bit of an expensive precedent.

I don't think there is any point in trying to line up who a suitor would be based on who they can send back because "we will trade Trouba for a player that is exactly like Trouba" says basically nothing.

Why would Edmonton trade $1 for $1 when they can trade $1 for .75c?

I agree that the odds of finding a similar player on the left side for the Jets is pretty slim, let alone finding one that's available.

The odds are he's traded for a package of prospects/picks.
