But the list of teams that can comfortably add Trouba to their salary cap is not long so that can play a factor as well when determining an appropriate value for return. I'm not saying his value is going to be significantly cheapened but I do think the situation / trade request could put WPG in a tight spot that may force them to take less to avoid any discractions for a team on the rise.

A trade is likely to include a current roster player, which opens up plenty of teams being able to work a deal out. It was the same thing in the Drouin situation, when many people were saying they have to trade them. I said from the beginning that they didn't have too. Neither does Winnipeg, as they have the leverage over Trouba same as TB did. Hamonic was asking for a trade for a significant period of time. Snow didn't rush to make a deal.

Trouba is an unsigned RFA coming off his EL deal. Of course he wants a raise. That's normal. I don't believe that Winnipeg will want Del Zotto in return, who is in the final year of his deal, and a pending UFA. He could walk after the season. I think the conversation for Trouba starts with Winnipeg asking for Gostisbehere.
- MJL

I think that is right, they would want Ghost. Maybe Provorov + Streit.
Either of which makes it a non starter for me at least.

They can take the best deal available, or lose a good young defenseman for part/all of a season as long as Trouba is willing to wait it out at his cozy, relatively-warn USA home. They can ask for the moon, but as much as they have leverage over Trouba, his public demand means that teams aren't going to give up top-end young NHL-proven talent for him, which is what they opened with.

Trouba would be foolish to hold out. I'd be surprised if that happens.

Yes, but on top of a current roster player (most likely defenseman based on rumored asking price), how many teams can sweeten the pot with a defensive prospect such as our pool of prospects? I'm not saying we should make the deal, I'm more suggesting that we are one of the more suitable teams currently in the NHL who WPG would be ok doing a deal with. I'm not sure if Drouin's request nearly has the same impact that Trouba's does: Drouin was unproven, had little relation with TB roster players and arguably wasn't needed on the TB roster with their depth whereas Trouba has shown his impact and value to WPG and has been a good locker room presence amongst his teammates. Drouin situation wasn't poorly spoken of by teammates at all during the whole phase. After one day, if even a full day, we already have one player from WPG voicing a strong opinion against Trouba.

I also thought that Yashin, Fedorov, and more recently, Ryan Johansen (although I don't know if it extended into the season) were foolish to hold out as well, but it has happened. I really think he just wants nothing to do with living in that tundra even if it costs him money.

Lets go devils!!!!

Wish there was a stream. interested in provorov as well as TK. hope for no injuries. You guys seem to be sending a very underwhelming squad, while devils have a lot of NHLers in there. Great to have hockey back. Hoping for no injuries on both sides.

Good player, but man I'd love to see somebody knock all of his teeth out.

he's annoying af, but clutch scorer and makes an amazing tandem with Bergeron

current deal runs till he is 36, so plenty of opportunities to see your wish fulfilled

Sanheim or any of the prospects the Flyers could offer, are also unproven. In my opinion, Winnipeg is going to be looking for an established NHL player. I don't think the opinion of a teammate is going to have any bearing on what Winnipeg decides to do.

I think it's more about being able to play on the right side, where he feels he can be a better player, and increase his value.

I dont know if I buy the whole "its about ice time, and blah blah"...

Winnipeg compared to many cities that house an NHL team is pretty low in terms of standard of living.

I dont blame any player who would want to be somewhere a little nicer to be quite honest.

I'd have interest in making a deal if I am the Flyers but untouchables for me are Provorov and Ghost.

With that in mind, I dont think a deal gets done with Philadelphia and Winnipeg.

To me it should be Edmonton. Nurse + something for Trouba and call it a day.

We got 7 guys still not playing here due to the World Cup and I think they are saving some for tomorrow night at home. So both teams tonight look like AHL rosters with a couple NHL guys. Plus this gets the Flyers brass a good look at how prospects handle a road game.
