They only finished three points apart last year and Vancouver tanked the last 20 games of the year by sitting players out with supposed injuries. I still see Pheonix being worse than Vancouver as the Canucks will be a bit better this year if they can stay healthy .

I think with Strome possibly making the team, they have a good shot at being better and while I think AZ finishes above, it's only marginal unless they somehow upgrade their goaltending.

It probably behooves VAN to tank again.

That is unpossible. The Leafs are the only team that has ever not done everything in their power to win as many games as possible.

No. The leafs are the only team to do it with their fans insisting they didn't...

Just because you have heard something before doesn't mean its not going to happen.

Connor McDavid with a supporting cast that includes Lucic, Klefbom, Puljarvi, Eberle, Yakupov, RNH and Draisaitl.

I think someone said last night that Connor skates 5 K/h faster than anyone on the ice when he's gliding around and 15 when he hits top speed. Did you see how he handled the puck last night? Selanne was speechless. Selanne. If you want to bet against this kid, be my guest.

Only injuries kept the Oilers down last year and that's the only possible thing standing in their way now.

Classic! Must have been injuries. The only other explanation is that you made a very ill-advised, uneducated prediction. And we all know that you've never been wrong before. So yeah, it must have been the injuries

Sure, they had a few injuries. But the St Louis Blues were far more decimated by injuries to quality players, and somehow they finished near the top of the conference, and won a round in the playoffs

You predicted Edmonton to win the CUP, and they finished LAST. You literally (and I do understand how frequently that word is misused) could not have been more wrong. Yet you still make excuses, instead of admitting how utterly and completely wrong you were

And you wonder why people constantly mock you...

Injuries definitely hampered EDM, but not from winning the cup. Maybe they would have finished fourth or fifth with a healthy McDavid and fewer injuries all around, but they wouldn't have made the playoffs.

Like my other discussion with this guy, simple math eludes him. EDM scored 42 less goals than they allowed. That's a lot of goals! A healthy EDM last year maybe would have come close to an even differential, but they were far from being only a few injuries from the playoffs, let along the cup.

San Jose - LA - Anaheim in - Calgary / Oil fight it out for possible 4th AZ then Van -
Even though Ducks lost lots of Forwards - I don't think a team that led the NHL in both PP & PK and just won the Jennings - just drops off the map - even with the odd choices so far this offseason - RC I'm talking about you - Maybe Murray thinks Boll is going to morph into Jethro and AV into Cliff Ronning & Raymond into Joey Mullen - Nah only in my dreams - Not sold on Elliot but Flames will be tough out - McJesus is a freak but I have to wait and see on the Oil - Az closer but not this yr -
I just don't know what the Canucks are doing - kinda like my Ducks -

I think ANA and STL are teams in very similar positions:

Both teams have stellar defense, but struggled to score.
Both teams have above average goaltending.
Both teams lost significant amounts of goals this off-season.

IMO, both will struggle to make the off-season. I think ANA has a better chance by virtue of their division and the expectation that Getzlaf will not repeat his mediocre season.

STL has a more competitive division.

I don't recall Tarasenko or Pietrangelo missing much time last season. Because we're talking edmontons best Dman and forward missing half the season.

I never said the Oilers would win the Cup. But they didnt play a single game last year w/ their optimum lineup. Not one.

No team in the NHL could lose their best C for half a year and their best D for most of the year and make the playoffs.

Unfortunately I believe that Arizona will fall under the hypnosis of the Tank lady & therefore not make the playoffs. But really, if they had a true & proper dig they could make the playoffs.

How long is the organisation going to suppress the young guns & give them wedgies all season long instead of giving them some help with older experienced guys & playoff games to develop the talent they have? They can make it - give them the opportunity to succeed.

Don't be another environmental disaster - don't be another Oil catastrophe!!!

I think they really need to upgrade their goalies as well! Light me up, but Talbot won't get it done for them.
