HockeyBuzz Hotstove: Hotstove: Pacific Division Breakout Players
- ToddCordellVAN

Exclusively bad competition?!! I thought we were talking about the Pacific Division?

The Sharks look to build on their incredible season last year, no question. They have pretty much the same line up, and added Boedker (yes I know you hate him Tanner).

The Kings aren't quite what they used to be, but they are still talented enough to put up enough points to get into the playoffs, but we'll have to see.

The Ducks are not lacking for talent either. I see 2 things making or breaking their playoff hopes. The emergence, or lack there of of John Gibson, and, with Carlyle, it's going to be sink or swim..

The Canucks...well, enough said. I'm friends with their long time editing journalism manager, and he is all doom and gloom these days. No identity, no direction. And he would know, he travels with the team everywhere they go.

The Flames are continuing the upward trend of their rebuild, the youngsters are getting better, and we finally have some quality goal tenders. Nowhere to go but up.

The Oilers can only hope this is the year they put it all together, and I don't see why they can't , or shouldn't with the talent they have, but I've been saying that for years now...

As I have checked and checked again, last season Gardiner and Rielly played virtually the same competition.

And you have no counter argument, so you 're going full semantics? Obviously two players I use an example cannot be random, but that isn't even what I said!! It's almost impossible - I think - to give a top 4 defenseman favorable ice time.

How would that even work? You can start him in the O zone a lot, I guess, but even then it has to be a huge discrepancy to make even a small difference.

It's also really annoying to be called a hypocrite for trying to offer up a nuanced, non-black and white answer. You literally cannot win around here.

You can't win cause you change your opinion every other day. It's borderline lunacy the way you flip and flop around this site spitting stats that happen to frame your argument that day. The worst part is you then try and defend everything you say by saying you're way smarter than everyone else on the planet. I personally think you just belong in the nut house.

I consider a break out player as a player that puts up about 60 points

IMO Bo Horvat will break 60 points before Bennett

Hey Tanner, ever gonna get over ur boy toy Hallsy get'n traded? Little sick of reading ur trash about oilers management. Two yrs ago I'd agree with you 110%. That was then but this is now and if oilers have better seasons ahead then how can u stand behind those bad management comments. Easy to say" well it's bound to happen sometime". Guess what, hasn't happened in ten yrs so I'd call that bad management. But I guess Bob Nicholson whom built hockey Canada program and Chiarelli whom built a Stanley cup team once already are bad in your eyes. Hall had to go. The team is better for it, that sounds like good management to me. Get over it!

My pick for this yr is Rnh. Coming off a injuried season and with, finally, some depth up the middle Rnh will be the most important player moving fwd this season. PP/PK He will be involved with everything. Shame on the fans and media that jumped the gun last yr with the emergence of Draisaitl and trading Rnh. As of now, that would have been the worst move of all and that would be bad management!!
Rnh-20 to 25 goals/ 35 to 40 assists having a career yr this season scoring a career high of around 60-65 points. Will lead the team in take-a-ways and be in top ten in league in this stat.

That is just wrong. What you really mean is that people write comments based one misunderstood sentence and it spirals from there.

If my opinion changes when I learn something, that's a good thing. However, a lot of what people consider "flip flopping" just turns out to be that they originally thought I had some kind of hardline authoritarian stance on whatever subject they're crying about, usually the use of apostrophes.

As for thinking I'm smarter than people, I make fun of that idea all the time with grossly exaggerated claims people hilariously think are real. So maybe it's true afterall.

There's a smiley face for you so you know that I'm joking. And here's a couple of these ~~ so you know that that last sentence was pretty sarcastic!!

The guy is an idiot... HockeyBuzz should be embarrassed to employ this hack.

I'm of the mind they only do it because so many people come here to tell him how big of a drip he is...

Sometimes you need a villain to make a great show. As much as I detest his outlandish and somewhat comical claims it would be rather boring without him.

Well said. I agree that the oilers with Lucic and Larrson are better than Hall. Tanner criticizes as if Chia chose larrson over a better offer, he did not. No one would take nuge or ebs because the 6 million was to much to take on and quite frankly their play did not equate to a decent trade.

Larrson is a top end shutdown guy that has offensive potential, number 2 in the NHL on Goals against per 60 minutes last year, AND HE MOVES PuCKS out of his own end. That alone will increase the offense.

It is so easy to refuse to see the bigger picture and just knock the trade one for one. It is not surprising Tanner won't as he really is not a hockey guy, he is almost always wrong regardless the topic.
