Who knows. STL needs to do something. Losing Backes and Brower hurt them pretty deep with scoring. Perron is not a suitable replacement for either.

Shattenkirk is their best move. They have some good young defense down the pipeline, so I think they can move him and not really get hurt.

- Rinosaur

At this point, I think they're going to have to hang onto him. Assuming they have at least reasonably similar success this season, it would be real hard to justify moving him at the deadline. Can't trade your best offensive defenseman two months before you're heading to the playoffs.

I doubt Shattenkirk is going anywhere given the Blues just named him an alternate.

I don't think we're going to see as big of a drop off as many seem to be expecting though. They may not have as good of a season as last year, but it's time to start relying on the kids. There's no one left on the roster that will garner a big payout, unless Fabbri breaks expectations; so in a season or two, the Blues will likely dump some major salary and be able to sign a couple more assets, keeping them competitive without having to rebuild.

It's the NHL crazier things happened than a just named to team captaincy player gets traded.

I don't know...

Backes and Brower probably would account for around 40ish goals. Perron will be lucky to get you 20, but realistically 10 to 15. Hopefully Stastny will finally pan out; that would be huge, but Steen is beginning to slow down.

Who knows though, there could be a few UFAs left that could be low-risk/high-reward for you guys.

You guys are lucky to have a really good back-end, but something will need to be done with your forward core.

We'll see the Penguins go back to their Black with Gold and no yellow, I bet. What a big stretch that will be. At least the Flyers did something different for the 50th anniversary.

the only thing worse than the jersey is the fact that it's on the most over rated player in the national hockey league.

Or Jonathan Toews...

I can't really decide who's more overrated at the moment.

You might be right but at least they have won the cup. I don't think Claude has a shot. Unless you believe flyer fans about their endless prospect pool.

To a degree, it makes sense for Fowler to go to the Devils. He played very will with Lovejoy. If I am not mistaken, that was one of Lovejoy's better years in the league. Hell, even Fowlers best statistical season (all around). However, the Ducks need help on LW, to play with Getzlaf and Perry. Cammy isnt going to do it. His cap hit is too high. Unless the Devils take Stoner as well. That could give the ducks the cap relief they need.
- Ducksfan93

50% Retention on Cammy!!!!!!! Heck I'd do more $3m of his $5M for 2 more yrs. Means that Folwer in essence is $7M cap hit (his $4 and Cammys 3). Which is probs what he will get in FA in 2yrs

Or Stoner to us at 100% salary!

Can I just clarify the rumour please?

Are you saying there is a cap strapped team with good Dmen going to give the Devils the players - ala the Hawks & Bruins?

Or,

Are you saying that there's going to be a last minute move of Dmen to the Devils?

So it's actually time related moves (ie: last minute), or cap restraints moves?

I was under the impression the Ducks aren't close to the cap itself, just their internal self imposed cap? Are the Blues in cap trouble?

Fowler, Lindholm & Shats.

My ketchup bottle whispered to me this morning, it said Shero will Aquire a Dman with picks or prospects but no roster player. The little bastard wouldn't tell me any names though. So can either of the aforementioned Dmen be had with picks &/or prospects as per my source??

I'm interested to see how they hit cap floor next year with Datsyuk and Pronger deals expiring. Maybe offer Bailey 10.5 mil a year?

If they want a number 1 dman, they should consider moving Hall for Larsson.

Larsson isn't a number one Dman though...

what's the site we go to for those fancy advanced stats comparing 2 dmen? Like the one Todd did of Fowler vs Severson?
