Ovi is easily a top ten player. I'd consider top 5 reasonable if not even a lock for him. This guy is one of, if not the greatest goal scorer of all time, considering how good goalies are now, compared to when Gretzky would deke at the top of face of circle leaving an gaping net to shoot at. If he played in 1970s or 80s he would've scored 100 goals |

The Hockey News is a shadow of it's former self. Stopped reading the pool guide and season preview about 5 years ago.
I'd take Ovie ahead of Crosby (injured too often), Price (injured too often), and Pavelski ( a great player, but Ovie is better).
If you want people to read your articles, I guess you need to throw in a few crazy and controversial quotes. |

CURRENT Top 10 NHL Centers
1. Crosby
2. McDavid
3. Bergeron
4. Kopitar
5. Tavares
6. Seguin
7. Giroux
8. Kuznetsov
9. Pavelski
10. Stamkos - Feds91Stammer
If you have Bergeron at 3 you put Toews above him. Please tell me how you rationalize Bergeron being that much better than Toews?.....Still sulking over 2015 how cute.
Bergeron is a .75 ppg career player, Toews is a .87 ppg, Kopitar is a .9 ppg, Pavelski .78. Out of two-way centers on your list Toews is second in scoring, has more hardware than the rest combined, and wears the A for team Canada.
His spot is #2 right behind Crosby. There really is no debate about it. Your list demonstrates your complete lack of actual hockey knowledge. |

You could say that about lots of players considering the advancements in health and training facilities. |

He has been on a decline for the past 3 seasons and his underlying numbers show that his defensive impacts have been overrated for quite some time. If you would like you can post some actual information to prove Toews is a top 10 center. |

Adjusted for the era in which he plays, Ovechkin is the greatest scorer of all time. All you need to know about this list is they think Doughty is better than Ovechkin, which is crazy.
That's unpossible. - James_Tanner
I don't disagree with anyone who wants to put Ovechkin on the list, but it is subjective. Doughty in my opinion is the best defenseman in the league, so he definitely belongs on the list.

I don't think that's what he meant.
Edit: You would consider taking Panarin over Ovi? You would take Panarin over Toews? |

They are out of their minds. I would have him as #1 personally. but that being said on no list should he be any lower than top 5. Just look at the guys stats every year! |

I wouldn't take any Chicago players except kane over Ovi.
I just said you could make an argument |

You believe Panarin is arguably a better player than Ovi, and that there is no argument for Toews over Ovi, so the transitive property tells me that Panarin > Toews |

Salary doesn't come into play when talking about the best players in the league though. |

What is the real meaning of this list though?
I look at it from the point of view that if you were to completely redraft the league, who would go 1-10. (Edit: players on 1 year contracts before they are reshuffled)
In that case I think there's a lot more wiggle room for guys like Pavelski, McDavid to find their way in and Ovi to be left off. |
