For the life of me, I can’t understand how professional athletes will always claim that their “hearts” are with “X” and “Y” team and that they’d like to “retire as an (insert team name here)” yet end up going somewhere else to earn a bigger paycheck.
Then you just don't understand the business of hockey.
First off, he gets to play hockey. For a living. In the best league in the world. Does not matter what team you play for, you make money playing a game.
Secondly, an athlete never knows when there career might be over - declining skills sometime come fast or freak injuries - so you need to cash in best you can when you can.
I can't understand how a person who writes about hockey doesn't get that.
You come across as a judgemental fool.
