Wait so Konecy has a better shot of making camp than Provorov? |

Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier and Mason are easily the guys you protect but how does this work with Gostisbehere and Provorov potentially playing next season? - roenick97
Mason and Neuvirth only have to be protected if you resign them. Best bet would be to have a handshake deal and resign them after the draft. It's a risky move, though. Gostisbehere has to be protected, but none of the other big D prospects do. |

I think they both have an equal shot of making camp.
I think Provorov has a better chance of making the NHL roster. |

It's why I'd look to make a move for Trouba, who (to me) seems disinterested in staying in Winnipeg. If we could offer something like Sanheim + 1st for him, and have permission to talk to Trouba to discuss terms, it would give Winnipeg a young, cheap LHD who they don't have to protect and a 1st, and gives the Flyers a young, proven, top-pair (I think) RHD. Only caveat is resigning MDZ, you'd have to expose Gudas. - jmatchett383
And I would be all for it. I was with you in trying to get Trouba. I think he is asking for a high number just because he doesn't want to be in WPG. I think he would take a deal like Dougie Hamilton did with Calgary if it was for a team in the US.
Could always move Del Zotto at the TDL if you don't think you can/want to resign him depending on his play or where the Flyers are in the standings.
I think Trouba can be a top pair guy right next to Provorov for the future. I know he had a down season but I think he'll rebound |

Agreed. For the record, I don't think Trouba will ever be a HHOFer (people will want him to be Pronger, and he won't), but I do see him as an all-situations top-pair guy who could make a few All-Star games. Maybe more of a Shattenkirk type. |

Completely agree.
I think him and Provorov could be the all situation top pair the Flyers need and can grow with.

I know. And yeah, although the Flyers sure could add another top-6 forward, I think his chances are way lower than Provorov's. |

This season could be interesting. With the expansion draft coming next season, I wonder if you will see teams deal a player they can't protect for a player they don't have to.
Like if Laughton, just an example, doesn't play up to standard would they look to move him for a player they don't have to expose to the expansion draft.
Wonder if more teams might look at deals like that instead of possibly losing a younger player for nothing. - J35Bacher
This will certainly happen and it is one of the many reasons I love expansion so much |

We could help out LA and send them Hagg for Doughty. |

The Flyers could use a potential number 1, number 2 defenseman more than another top 6 forward. Obviously the Flyers could use both but the Flyers defenseman has looked uneven for 2 or 3 seasons now. |

I don't think many people on here would disagree. |

The only issue I'd say is Provorov is a 1 or 2 by most evaluations. So if we bring in someone it better be someone to play with him. |

We could always try to convert Konecny into a defender.
And while I'm high on Provorov, he's yet to play 1 pro game. So yes, he projects as the real deal, but I want to see him take some steps first. |

I just don't want to make moves that end up blocking kids when they are ready. The way this team is laid out right now is fine. The kids can beat out AMac, Manning, Streit, Schultz and take those spots. |
