Ty, The Runner Up??? Really? You're better than that. Everyone that DIDN'T sign him are the runner ups. Too much ado for someone that hasn't skated on NHL ice.
- Doogs

It's widely believed that the Bruins were one of the 'finalists', which makes them more of a runner up than say the Los Angeles Kings.

we saw eichel simmer down when he had to play more than 40 games.
So I'm expecting the same thing.

Hmm, not sure what NHL you were watching...30 of his 56 points scored from game 41-81

So, the interesting thing this start of the season will be seeing who gets that ninth spot in the top 9. I'm hoping for Griffith.

Avoid tampering charges? Based on what?

I don't think there was tampeering, but the results make you wonder about the process. That really this wasn't about what teams could offer but really just were Jimmy wanted to be and with whom. Which is completely fine, except if he had said he wanted to be a Ranger earlier perhaps it wouldn't have cost Buffalo a 3rd and perhaps he would have received a more modest ELC.

My opinion is that there should be some minor compensation from the team that signs you to the team that originally drafted you. So in this case the Rangers would give a pick to Nashville. Maybe 1 round after they were drafted, so in this case a 4th.
If you recall the Rangers got compensated a pick for a player who died, it seems fair Nashville should get something.

The pick would actually go to Buffalo since Nashville traded his rights, so they already recouped their pick. That is a good idea though.

I think that ship has sailed. Frankie would fit nicely in place of Vesey though.

that is not the same thing

every team gets a 2nd round pick if they don't end up signing their first round pick. Nobody gets anything if they don't sign a 3rd round pick.

when the Rangers signed Kevin Hayes, Chicago got a 2nd rounder as compensation because he was a first rounder.

I don't see Vesey getting a top 6 role in NYR. Kreider & Miller are there top 2 LW's. Miller could move to C on the 3rd line bumping Hayes to RW but I just don't see it. Of the 8 teams Vesey apparently was interested in NYR provides the least opportunity to contribute in the top 6 & he will barely make the 2nd PP unit. BY TOI/GP Vesey will finish 9th next year & in PP TOI/GP around 9 through 11.

Kreider, Stepan, Zuccarello.
Miller, Zibanejad, Nash.
Vesey, Hayes, Fast.
Gerbe, Jooris, Grabner.
Spare. Glass.

Lindberg is slated to miss 6 months so shouldn't be ready to return until November. We he does Gerbe or Jooris will be waived.

1st PP unit. Stepan, Zuccarello, Kreider up front, McDonaugh & Miller on the points.
2nd PP Unit. Zibanejad, Hayes, Nash up front, Skjei & Holden on the points.

Vesey will see similiar power play time in PP TOI/GP to Hayes, Skjei & Holden but when all is said & done less.

Vigneault forces young players to earn their ice time & opportunity, nothing will be given. See Miller & Hayes & their rope is far shorter than a veteran. Make mistakes & your quantity & quality of icetime evaporate quickly.

If as was being reported Vesey wanted a top 6 role & amn opportunity to max out his contract in 2 years NYR was the worst choice of the 8 teams. Obviously it was all media hyperboil as he's not getting either in NYR.

This is such bullpoop

I used to play with the kid and haven't known him for years, but know a lot of his family and friends. The kid's camp was totally silent on where he was going and no one knew save (most likely) his immediate family, who wouldn't say poop.

You spewed nonsense all over this place.

he went on the devils blog and started saying that Cordell hates the Bruins for not mentioning that Rask is a top goalie on this league and that quote: "his hate for the bruins is disgusting" and he will refuse to read a Cordell blog. I think Todd is probably happy about that

Griffith just strikes me as a player, who can get it done at the AHL level but will never translate to the NHL. He's been given every opportunity to play with Krejci and just doesn't seem like he's a quality winger.

Reminds me of the new Jordan Caron. Here's your 20th try as if we don't already know what you are.

Yeah, well, man, Malcolm Subban is a top 5 young goaltender in the NHL.
