Pretty harsh assessment of the Canadian U18 entry. They lost one game. 2-1 on a late goal by the Russians. Beat up pretty good on the Swedes. Right on with the Strome kid, he can't skate |

Adam I know jack poop about junior hockey. Are you saying that Canada as a hockey country is getting weaker in the players it produces overall, or just that the teams at these events aren't great? I'll hang up and listen so I can have both hands free. |

I have been thinking of writing a blog about this, but I think it has more to do with
1. Whomever is healthy and shows up to the tournament (Patrick would have been the focal point and likely driven the offense in a way Comtois couldn't)
2. The USA is catching up and Canada is poor on the international ice for some reason
3. The world is starting to make U17 and U18 leagues to bring up players together in a very focused way. Russia has spent millions re-doing their junior leagues to match the USNDP. Canada still has the inevitable problem that we are the largest country in the world and we have three separate leagues and no consensus. Players play AAA and then are thrust into random CHL squads. While the USNDP hand picks players and basically raise them from 15-18. |

Very interesting, thanks. I've often thought it's inevitable that the US becomes much stronger than it has been, just because of hockey's growth there and their population. It would be good for the other teams to get a lot better, the competition should be better in international hockey, it would be more interesting.

This vesey guy is way overhyped. I doubt he will even crack top 6 as an NHL full timer. It's pretty obvi the summer brings not much hockey news. While you all go downon vesey like this: |

He's being overhyped by people who have seen him play. That would be a fair assessment to make if you had seen him play.
I haven't seen him play, but agree it seems like he's being overhyped. Signing him to a 2 year entry deal is pretty much a no lose gamble though. It's unfortunate your team doesn't have a chance to place a bet. |
