And here I was thinking that 8/15 was the date. I'm not sure how much longer I can take it. I'm having this image flash across my brain of Fish coming out, saying Jimmy has made a decision and we'll let you all know what it is on September...........
- RhinoFan

Right? That was so upsetting when I saw that last night.

Same here. When we heard August 15th that was the date he enters FA, not so I guess. I think he'll make his decision on Thursday and it will be all done.

This is correct. I've said for couple of weeks that Buffalo absolutely was the leader, and can offer him more than any other team. There is the hometown pull, but as was stated, don't underestimate the Jack Factor. I've only heard of the initial meeting last month. Buffalo, and Jack, has left him alone since then as that's the way GMTM works - he doesn't like "bugging" players. They have talked this weekend, initiated by The Vesey party. This was to "finalize" the Sabres offer, both financially (bonus structure) and logistically (How the envision Jimmy fitting in).

Not sure how to think here. Was the Vesey camp just clarifying a few things before he goes to FA or are they leaning slightly to Buffalo at this point. Not sure what the Sabres talked about needs clarification because the salary and max bonuses are the same.

Do you know anything about the bonuses, like are they the same achievements or can you say 10 goals (and another team would say 20 goals) reaches part of the bonus?

Could that be part of the discussion last night?

I was a member there for 4 years back in the 90's. It is a weird set up, all the par 3's are right there to start and finish each 9. 2 and 3 are par 5's and all of the greens slope the same way. Not much thought was put into it. Not a bad track though, the bar was always lively, especially on Friday's.

Entry-level contracts can still include signing and performance bonuses. Signing bonuses may not exceed 10 percent of the contract’s total compensation, and is paid to players annually. Performance bonuses for entry-level contracts, that are paid by the team and count against the salary cap cannot exceed a maximum of $2,850,000. Performance Bonuses are broken into 2 categories: Schedule A and Schedule B. Schedule A Bonuses may not exceed $212,500 per individual bonus, and $850,000 in total. There are two types of Schedule B Bonuses. League-wide award/trophy bonuses that are paid by the league and are not captured within the actual entry-level contract signed by the player, and player & club agreed upon bonuses, of which the maximum is $2million per season.

they are all standard bonuses, one team cant really jump out ahead of the other, only if 1 doesn't want to include some of the bonuses in the contract structure. Its really tough to mess with ELC contracts

I believe that the team can define the performance that earns the bonus however they want (ie start one game =bonus; play total 10 minutes TOI = bonus, score 75 points = bonus) but the amount of each bonus and the total amount of all bonuses are capped.

Yeah team can pick what the bonuses are in the contract, but I think they are all mostly stock categories and easy attainable.

Dudes,
This whole process has been annoying. One way or another, the NHL needs to modify these rules. Either make a kid have to play for the team that drafted him regardless how long he stays in college, just like every other Canadian junior or if they leave it the same, move up the 8/15 date. There is no reason for this to have extended a month and a half plus beyond free agency opening! It's an outrage! F this kid and his stupid ass last name agent.

It is weird I will say that.
Only a few more days and it is over.
This kid better light the lamp 25 times minimum to not suffer ridicule.
That said, I can't blame him, not his fault there is a loophole allowing for him to do this...who wouldn't take advantage of it.

Could Murray have allowed Vesey to speak with other teams during the past month? If so, why not let him to expedite this process. If he liked a different team, maybe we could have recouped a fifth round pick from that team.

If we do miss out, I'd like to see a tryout for tanguay. He actually had a decent year last year after the trade deadline

Right. It's insane that they don't want a full time student to be paid to play a sport full time.

For sure, I cant imagine he's going to be the locker room favorite off the start either. having a top 6 spot without playing a game cant win the vets overs

No, that is the same across the board no matter what sport and kids can't be getting paid while in college. That isn't changing. Either a kid can't get drafted until he declares or rights are retained by the team that drafted the play after the player graduates.
