Stories (which are probably true) but never arrested but Hardy was all over the news

It's just a bad bad look

With the offseason issues the Bills and Sabres have had that would be an awful look for Pegula

THe injuries will be Rex's scapegoat to keep him another year

Rex gets saddled with another 3rd tier/borderline 2nd tier QB (ikn some of you Bills fans are in love with Tyrod for w/e reason)

I would love to see what the guy could do with an actual QB (hello Drew Brees) and a legit offensive coordinator

Last season Rasmus Ristolainen played an average of 25:17 per game with the numbers getting up around 28 minutes or more in the last half of the season. Dan Bylsma said that must change, “We asked a lot of him. We put him into a lot of tough situations and I think some of the numbers that roll out on him as far as Corsi and possession do reflect that, but frankly we played him too much at times. He’s not going to like to hear this, but he’s not a guy that should be getting 28 to 30 minutes per night although we did it to him and we put him in those situations. His number should be in the 24 minute per game range and that’s where you’ll see him be at this next year and his numbers will improve too because of that.”

Interesting read. Most cornerstone #1 D men play about 25+ minutes a night. Maybe a hint that they think they need to get another guy

I agree and disasgree with this offense Tyrod is fine. Run heavy and dont throw picks. Brees would be a bit of a waste and honestly dont know if he could throw in the wind and cold here full time. BOrtles,COusins would intrigue me to see them here. Wilson has done well in a similar style in seattle

Or he's just saying he's not ready for that much icetime yet
Risto did look overwhelmed at times last year

To put a finer point on it, he looked overwhelmed when he looked over tired.

He did. But Coming into his 4th season he should be that guy now.
I don't mean they would replace Risto, just maybe add another top pairing guy

Kulikov?

Maybe Bylsma just doesn't wanna play ANYONE 28min a game

I'd agree w that
There's only a handful that should be playing that much per game
Too many guys get overused & get run down IMO

Doughty
Keith
Letang

Need a guy like that for a cup run. Hopefully he just means to give him some more rest in regular season

If Vermette signs with the Ducks that will hurt our chance to get Fowler.

to late they just signed him

- SABRES 89

Except they still need to trade some defensemen...
They must protect Bieksa (nmc)
And I can't imagine them not protecting Vatanen or Lindholm
That leaves Fowler & Manson who I'm sure they don't wanna lose for nothing
They could probably live if Vegas takes Despress since they have Theodore coming up who they don't have to protect yet

They must also protect at least 3 forwards with NMCs
Perry, Getzlaf, Kessler
Other forwards...
Cogliano, Silfverberg, Rakell

I'd imagine they don't wanna risk losing Silfverberg or Rakell especially
So that means only protecting 3 defensemen

Looks to me like they'd still wanna trade Fowler & get something back for him, and then hope Vegas takes Despress instead of Manson

They'd be nuts to not trade Fowler & get something back

Depends how deep your defense is
If we had McNabb-Pysyk as our 3rd pair,
we wouldn't need our top pair to play 40min a night

But I get your point

Right now, Risto isn't near the level of those other guys
Maybe that's all Bylsma is really saying

And Boston had Chara.

But Rangers and Devils have gotten to the final without having a truly dominant(dominate?) guy.

I would rather win the just run at it, but remember Risto is just turning 22, and filling out his body. Hopefully he is ready to take the next step soon.

No need to rush him though either
Assuming McCabe continues to improve, and Bogosian plays like he did in the 2nd half of last year when he was finally healthy...
That 2nd pair should be able to absorb important minutes too
That'll help a lot
Gorges & Franson should be a solid 3rd pair as well

Doughty's first 4 seasons (age 19-22): 23:50, 24:59, 25:39, 24:54
Duncan Keith's first 4 seasons (age 22-25): 23:26, 23:36, 25:34, 25:34
Ristolainan's first 3 seasons (age 19-21): 19:07, 20:37, 25:17

He'll get there, and there's no blame that "OMG, he's no Doughty!!"

Andy Greene and Bryce Salvador played a bunch of minutes in 2012, and I think both McDonagh and Girardi were over 25 minutes a game in 2014.

No one is going to confuse any of those guys for Doughty, but it does help when gys can eat up a bunch of minutes.

Right, but there wasn't pressure to reduce any of there roles. That's what I found interesting. I don't remember Sutter saying that Doughty couldn't handle 25 min a night
