I wonder if the 'delay' is simply to allow for the selected team to orchestrate a splashy press conference-- which would be in line with Mc D style---
Vesey must have made his mind up by now--- the menu reading is over kid--- time to order up--
I sure hope he makes much quicker decisions on ice! - jb3333
Ill be pisssed if he goes to NYR |

Yes this.
0.925 mil + maximum 2.85 mil bonuses x 2 years = 7.55 mil - breadbag
Yep but who isn't offering that, lol. Don't see this as news. |

And if he hits all the bonus then its worth every penny. If not 925k expieremnets with potential are the best |

Exactly---- Hossa retires as a Hawk--- 81 in the rafters-- looks like we will have several new banners in the rafters when 81-2-7-19-88 (4)? retire-- I still think 27 & 28 should have been up there for their service on some very good Hawks teams
Doubtful Vesey will have his number up there-- but he might play a couple seasons here-- - jb3333
Just my opinion but when it's all said and done I think only the big three are getting their jersey's retired (19-88-2). |

I don't know how Hudler fits under cap unless he's taking a VERY small deal....Even with JV at 925K cap hit with bonuses hitting next year, It's very tight.
Hope the kid decides soon. Sounds like he has NHL ready skills now and won't take much transitioning.
Lastly on Panarin front saw that Monahan just hit the lottery with a 6+ million cap hit and I'd very hard pressed who would take him straight up over Panarin today. Skill wise. So what I am getting at, and what I've been preaching, is that I just don't see how Panarin is signed under 6 AAV this upcoming July 1.
Cap hell continues to haunt this franchise...........and Uncle Dale is LONG GONE |

Maybe 7 too. Especially if he comes close to finishing that contract here. He's worn an A for how long? 2008? |

True - but Count Bettman is still around. Until he goes, it will continue to be cap hell for some teams.

7 just got his A when Sharp left. Supposedly, he's been playing the role for longer, but it was formal this past season. |

Yes Wilson was the best Hawk for many years--- kept them in the discussion-- Didn't he lead the team in scoring as a dman a couple season? - jb3333
Have to do for Probert what was done for Magnuson? (which was not the right thing, because Pilote deserved his own.)

Think I read that the KHL team he's playing for is picking up Datsuk's salary. - Marlowe
He retired he does not get paid anything, only the cap hit stays on the books because he was over 35 when he signed it. |

Keith is the other contract on the Hawks that would be subject to recapture penalties if he were to retire early. Hossa is brought up a lot because, other than Luongo, he would be the oldest at the end of his contract. Some of the guys on those contracts were relatively young and not likely to have many issues (like Ovie) or so far into the contracts they only have a little time left (Savard), but a majority will be in around 39/40 when they end.
Others include: Luongo (43), Hossa (42), Chara (41), Parise (40), Suter (40), Zetterberg (40), Franzen (40), Savard (39), Keith (39), Kronwall (38), Carter (37), Crosby (36), and Ovechkin (35). - L_B_R
Ovi is exempt from cap recapture. His salary was 9M 1st half of deal then 10M. |

Maggie to Pierre is a much better comparison than Probie to Willie. In terms of character, there is no comparison of Probert to Magnuson.
While I admire what Probert did to try to ward off his evils, Keith Magnuson was a face of the Chicago Blackhawks for over a generation. I am grateful and humbled to have met such a great man. Who Keith Magnuson was, off the ice, was a big(ger) reason why his #3 was retired with the great Pierre Pilote.
Willie left the 'Hawks on bad terms in 1991. His 39 goals and 85 points will likely stand as the all time 'Hawks single season defenceman scoring in '82-'83. Too bad it took him scoring a lot to get his only Norris. But then again, all of us know how the Norris is really awarded. Those points came often with 20/18/28 up front on the PP. |
