Because I watch both players play hockey. Eichel was way better the second half of the season... Draisaitl is a good player, and I'm happy we have him, but Eichel is a special player...

Yup, my secret is out. For the casual hockey fan, it's extremely difficult to see how awesome Eichel is... I get that. For the average fan, it's almost impossible to see that Eichel was much better than Draisaitl as the year went on... My cover as a scout was clearly blown there

This being said I personally would take Eichel over Drai in the long run. But this blog was about the current best cneters under 21 and looking at the total body of work draisatl is currently better

It's really shortsighted to evaluate things based on small samples like different subsections of the season. Looking at rolling averages Draisaitl doesn't decline anywhere near as much as it's being made out to be.

Also it isn't a fact at this point. It is simply an opinion which obviously people will disagree with.

As long as Patty is running the show, I'm tempering my expectations with MacKinnon. That second season was pretty brutal. I hope he bounces back (then again it was for all their forwards)
