Taylor Hall is a top 10 player in this league right now. I'd take him over Towes any day. - kaptaan
I dunno about that. |

I'd rather have a 30 goal scorer on my team than a one time 80pt season guy. Do you remember how good Hudler a couple years ago? Should he be on this list too? - Razzdazzle1
Adam Henrique and Kyle Palmeri just scored 30 goals each for us last year. You want those guys over Taylor Hall? I mean I like them sure, but I don't think they're better. |

Looking at the list, not sure I disagree with his exclusion at this point. There are a lot of really talented forwards in the league and Hall is probably just on the outside of the top 20. That said, anyone comparing Taylor Hall to Hudler is a moron. |

I don't know how you can call a team with 4 #1 picks a terrible team unless those players aren't very good. When Hall cracks 30 goals he might be considered a top 20 player. Until then he's somewhere in the top 50. - Razzdazzle1
why are Gretzky and Messier always so good at international tournaments? |

OK, but hear me out on this:
What's crazy is they Jiri Hudler and Taylor Hall have the exact same number of letters in their name but in opposite arrangements. Taylor has a 6 letter first name and a 4 letter last name where Jiri has a 4 letter first name and 6 letter last name.... but then they both have last names that begin with H. You know what else starts with H? Hockey. So there's that.
Oh and Jiri played in Calgary previously and Taylor played in Edmonton and they're both somewhere up Alberta Canada.... and do you know what's smack in the middle between Calgary and Edmonton? Red Deer. And while deer don't play hockey they are fast, which is essential in today's NHL..... Which is why Hynes said he wanted a team that was fast...(attacking and supportive). And Hall is fast, so it's like Coach Hynes knew we'd be getting Hall, but not Hudler. It's a conspiracy! That's why he put Larsson on the top line with Greene. Because he knew whoever we put with Greene, the Oilers would want. Just like Marc Fayne! |

Neal and Gaborik are also one-dimensional players. Neal has his moments where he resembles a game similar to Hossa, but those moments are few and far between. - Rinosaur
Hall is a one-dimensonal player. Sure he gets takeaways and is really fast but he is also a turnover machine and not very good defensively, has a mediocre shot and poor hands. |

The point was 1 good season doesn't make you a top 20 player.

Hall is obviously much better than those 2, but it's tough to pitch someone as a top 20 forward when they're not part of the 30goal club.

Maybe he will play better for us since we won't boo him if he doesn't win all the games by himself. |

Yeah...sure... except Toews has the track record to back it up in the NHL and internationally.
Solid offensively - He is often deployed defensively without Kane on his wing or else he would be scoring more.
Clutch goal scoring
Elite defensively
Elite at winning draws
Great leader - very few better captains right now
Fantastic in the shootout - Team Canada is glad about that one
There aren't a lot of players with the compete level of Toews or that do as much as he does in every area of the ice. If Chicago gives him some wingers to play with this season, he will be having a great season. - breadbag

Do you realize how good of year Pavelski had last year? And since Tavares has enter the league 2009/10, Tavares only scored him by 35 points. Now the future for Tavares is brighter because he's 7 years younger. But don't put down Pavelski because you don't watch him. |

If Pavelski played on the east coast he'd be unanimously viewed as one of the best forwards in the league, because he can either play C or RW. He takes important faceoffs. He been near a ppg player for almost 3 years. He turned himself from a bottom 6 player into first line player, how rare is that. |

And Thornton put up 63 more points than Pavelski. Pavelski isn't even the best player on his own team.
The big difference is when you look at 5v5 primary points.
Tavares - 230
Thornton - 185
Pavelski - 195 |

This is where I don't like adavanced stats. Tavares is the better player and will be going forward because he's almost a decade younger. But Pavelski a demon on the power play and given the importance on scoring you can't hold Pavelski's special team success against him. Tavares is better but it's not a travesty having Tavares 7th and Pavelski 6th. It's not like were talking Rick Nash vs John Taavares here. |

Pavelski was the better player last season. Tavares was the better player the season before. So a NYI fan saying something predictable like

is just plain stupid. |

I am not discounting Pavelski's PP production however some of that production has to do with being on a team with a better system and better players. |
