Opposite. Ltir doesn't reduce cap spending; it allows you to overspend the cap. So by default, if you are using ltir, the max bonus cushion will apply and likely bonus penalties next year.

Example. We ltir'd horton last year and got hit with rielly's bonus penalty this year.

Babcock said in an interview today on tsn that the players would decide who makes the team and that the best players will play regardless of age. Your whole fact based argument is based on the fact that you think we should let Marner rot in junior putting up 250 points taking 3 minute shifts because we should play michalek in our top 6. No.. Trade them while they are worth something. Use them to trade away bad contracts. They could still afford to trade Bozak too.. maybe someone would want Holland who knows. Trade greening for a 5th.. Free up some space for a better option like Vesey, or Pirri.

I tend to agree...Martin definitely with Marner and/or other kids, higher than 4th line for sure

Although that's a bad sign when Martin is definitely better than your fourth line but these things take time.

Marner plays centre not riding on domi, or devoraks wing
And realistcally if these other guys are expected on the roster where the hell does Marner fit
If Mathews and nylander play together he won't fit on that line
If michalak is healthy he is top six so we can trade him later possibly with jvr
Kadri and komarov will be our shut down line. With a winger like sosh or hyman Because I doubt Marner plays a shut down role. And that leave the fourth line.
Most fellow leaf fans hate what I'm saying and tell me I'm stupid. But come on. Look at the contracts we have and the direction of the team. Highly doubt Babcock rolls with five rookie regulars.

I agree with most of what you have said, except for trading JVR. If another team puts up an irresistible offer and is willing to trade a younger winger and or D with huge potential but the team needs to win now, you have to consider it. The expansion draft opens up a lot of possibilities as well where teams may give up more than what is normally considered reasonable. Otherwise I don't see him moving. Great contract for two more seasons, may re-sign for a discount if he likes the progress and development of the team. He's highly skilled, Babs will teach him to drive the net, use his size more and work on his two way game a bit. He can be a great teacher AND will thrive with highly skilled youngsters around him. Unless another team makes some ridiculous salary offers and/or there is conflict with coaching and management, he really has no reason to be traded or go UFA.
