I think we can all agree that there is a happy median between Weber's last playoff game last season levels of suck and somehow being good enough to play 26 minutes a night in all situations.
- AdamFrench

I disagree. Median is the wrong stat to be using in this type of analysis, I think we should be focusing on the mean if anything.

Damn.

NHL Network I presume? I wouldn't be able to watch that many games from other teams.

- Scabeh

I get center ice every year and watch a lot of hockey in the winter. Plus, they usually play different days/times than the Bruins, but still play early enough to catch the majority of the game.

pack it up folks, this man watched games!
- daeth

I said he looked fine, not even trying to get into the argument. But I will say advanced stats should be used in conjunction with actual game play or you'll be like, well, Tanner.

He would need to be a poster who's opinion I respect though. Rick James is one of them.

I'm not trying to say you're wrong, I'm just poking fun at the "how many games have you watched" question. In a thread where we all pretty much watch 82 Leafs games a year (more if we include pre-season) yet can't agree on how awesome or poopty Gardiner is I just couldn't possibly care less how many times someone has seen Weber play. It doesn't make for a good discussion.

or how about offensive zone starts vs defensive zone starts?

not to mention he played in the west which is typically the more offensive conference

- Dozzer

Weber: 51% offensive zone starts
PK: 52.9%

as with any player you can find faults in their game if you go looking for them

its a biased way to approach things

sure... note his weaknesses... but in doing so his strengths should also be noted to create a fair and impartial opinion

- Dozzer

How is it biased if they are taking several years? They aren't cherry picking, they did note his strengths(offense) They are just pointing out that his other perceived strength isn't what it was/what people think it is

all i am trying to say is that it isnt nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be

pair someone like weber with someone like beaulieu, a young, speedy PMD, allowing weber to not have to take as many risks positionally

when it boils right down to it, hockey is a team game, and a good coach makes sure he sets up his defensive pairings with guys who compliment each others games

as of now, I'd still take Weber over PK.

I'd take Weber over PK if I had a 4 year window in which I was trying to win a cup.

I just don't understand all the fancy stats, so I can't answer your further questions cuz it makes my mind too wobbly. Answering a direct "what's X player's zone starts" is easy. :D

Some more for you on these two though:

as would Yzerman and the rest of team Canada - I don't really get why this is such an argument fellas!

PK has the flash
Weber is the 2 headed beast with the hardest shot in the league.
