My comment wasn't predicated on the trade of him out of Montreal. Even though I can't stand that team, I can still appreciate a solid hockey player. If he didn't do some of the stuff he did I would have admired him even if he was on the Habs - It just happens that now we'll have to see what he does in NSH. I love Weber and am not at all looking forward to having to play against him in the Atlantic

Also, make sure the Leafs keep their heads up too. Wouldn't want Marner or Matthews pulling a Pacioretty

- RickJames77

now i know a lot of habs fans didnt like the deal but weber will bring a stability to their back end subban simply doesnt.

subban might be the exact type of personality to bring attention to hockey in a smaller US market... i really dont think it was a bad deal at all.

but yeah... teams in the atlantic will have to watch out for him... he brings a toughness to the habs back end we havent seen in awhile

I'll miss P.K.

I don't think there is a more entertaining player to watch in the NHL right now.

This being said, I also can't wait to see Shea (frank)ing Weber play on my team.

Weber ain't as good as he used to be, that's the main reason why the trade sucks for Montreal. Prime Weber >>>> Subban though.

i think weber will look good in a habs uniform...

im mostly curious as to how he will respond to the far bigger market and the increased attention... personally i think he will be more than fine

but no question, he's gonna get a lot more attention than he ever has.

I managed to make it to the part where he says that Batman V Superman is underrated and then I had to go dry heave in the bathroom.

i really dont understand this argument

last season was his 3rd best for points in his entire career

he also will only be 31 this august... he isnt old by any means

He's always played a pretty old school style, that'll age guys a bit quicker than most.

Offensively the numbers are ok but defensively he's lost a step or two along the way. He's been slowly declining over the last 4+ years.

I guess that game 7 from last year has people all convinced he's now too slow for the game.

I'm not even worried about Weber or his ability to still be a dominant player for years to come.

Sure he'll turn 37+ one day and get slower... didn't prevent a guy like Pronger to still be one of the best out there.... great players adapt their game when they lose speed.

4 years? You mean when he was 27?

I thought 27 was prime time?

I see it like this:

Favorites - Bruins (local/fav. team) & Leafs (Family)
High Odds - Sabres & Devils (both teams seem to be on the younger side of things with strong managements/coaching staffs behind them. In addition, these two teams each have former teammate from pro league (Vesey-Eichel-Lappin line) in their organization)
Others - Rangers (NE team), Penguins (NE team/contender), and Blackhawks (contender)

With all that in mind, I'm still putting my money on him joining the Boston or Toronto later this month.

Some guys are amazing until their late 30s, some guys have their best season as a rookie. Don't care what the average "peak" is personally.

he has played 78, 78, and 79 games the last 3 seasons...

this past year he had his second highest shot block total of his career

his plus minus was a bit weak but overall the nashville goal differential was nothing to write home about

the season before however was his second highest +/- ever

people talk about how he is on the decline but sorry, the actual stats say otherwise

i could also mention that his PP goal total from last year was the highest of his career.

the "he's slowing down" argument just doesnt have much merit.

I really don't understand the Shea Weber declining arguments, and I would like to...

I haven't really watched him much but everything in his stat line indicates that his last season was pretty much on par with the previous 7 seasons.
