but I keep hearing the league will be all over this (larger than any investigation the league has seen in years.

Well let's just hope that this works out with Liriano then. If Atkins is making this move with playoff games in mind, it can go south real quick considering they don't have anything close to a grasp on a playoff spot (and some other AL teams are looking even stronger than last season)

How do you know if it works?

You shut down a young pitcher after an innings limit and it he either gets injured next season or he doesn't.

If he doesn't get injured, how do you know that's because he was shut down?
