It's not hard to see the problem with write-in candidates in the current American system.

If you write in, you're hoping that enough other people follow suit that your candidate wins. But you know that people generally don't go with the write-in option... so your vote is pretty much wasted.

Not only that, but if you're a Liberal writing in Sanders, you've gotta hope that enough people wrote him in that he'll win, because if not, now you're splitting the liberal vote, while most conservatives are going for AdolfDonald Trump.

- Feeling Glucky?

Thats the problem with political parties. They care more about there party winning then the effects on the country

George washington was against political parties and against america getting involved in the politics of other countries

Dude may have been on to.something

Right from urban dictionary

Troll: One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

I love the good old U.S. of A. - my wife and I chose to live there for a while. Hell, I've had 4 vacations there this year (including going to an Islanders game), and I'm planning another.

So please don't think I'm just saying the following to bash Americans:

Your political system is so beyond franked it shouldn't even be considered a democracy. If Democracy Watch monitored a US election, they would declare it invalid.

Do you know how every other democracy works for voter registration? The government registers you. A non-partisan, arms-length body is set up, and they control the voter lists.

The idea that parties would control the voter registration process is just so far beyond nuts I can't even comprehend it (yeah, yeah, I know, you can register as independent - but it isn't easy, and it doesn't negate the point I'm making).

And then having the incumbent parties run the elections is also nuts.

And don't even get me started on electronic voting machines in which the companies refuse to show the code - and those companies just so happened to be selected by the incumbent parties.

You can talk all you want about how much the Democrats hate the Republicans and the Republicans hate the Democrats, but together they ensure that a horribly unfair electoral system will be perpetuated - and ensure that the worst they can ever finish is 2nd place.

Your system is broken beyond repair. You don't need electoral reforms. You need to chuck it out and start over.

- Atomic Wedgie

You know what, stay in Canada. Your whole post is all a bunch of ..... well it's......the thing is.......fine, it's right. Damn.

The system is (frank)ed. There's politicians who stay in office for 50 years. And it's a wonder that nothing gets done.

90%, probably more, of our population is (frank)ing braindead. The overwhelming majority of people probably gather their political "knowledge" based off memes on facebook with quotes written pictures of candidates that may or may not be something that they actually said.

Can't remember if it was our thread or the Rangers thread I posted this in the other day, but this is something that actually came across my news feed the other day.

Seriously. One of the dumbest. (frank)ing. things. I. have. ever. read.

What are you talking about? I was not talking about the coach in a bad way at all. Son I been around hockey my whole life played for 7 years until a severe concussion took me out. Been to Islander games my whole time from Boston to Philly to Pittsburgh to Washington to even Atlanta. Been there when we were to cheap to have a jumbotron. When there was 4000 in attendance. Dont tell me I dont know hockey. It is just funny reading comments on here from the newbies who really need to get a clue. The veterans on here and they know who they are are amazing and always know what is going on and know what to say. It is sad that most of them stay away now cause of all the crap that is on these blogs. It was never like this back in the day but then the new guys come around and blow it all up. If you want to see a troll then go read about them in a childrens book or look in your bathroom mirror.

We were debating which would have a greater impact on the game - raising the net 6" or doing away with the instigator rule.

For the last 2 decades the Islander have been just as big of a joke as the Leafs. I don't see how either fans seem to think they have something over the other.

the leafs have no excuses. they are the richest team in the sport. and they have dine nothing for 50 years

new york has 3 teams sharing a market so yes the Isles had been a budget team

toronto has one team in its market and spent more than any other and did nothing for 50 years

even leaf fans agree theyve been a joke

even tavares agrees....why woud he go there

Stamkos laughed about going home

its time to smell the coffee toronto

a class act Tavares just put you in your place respectfully, but honestly and now you act like it wasnt a serious question

if he had answered differently youd be acting like it was glorious but now that he told you point blank that he doesnt care about going there it wasnt serious

yeah right

take it like an adult toronto stamkos and tavares both want no part of you

That's another scary thought. Unfortunately, not all cops are smart.... But then again I know some doctors and lawyers who aren't very smart either. It seems like the country is getting dumber and dumber....

What the (frank) did you just (frank)ing say, you little poop? Ill have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and Ive been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and Im the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the (frank) out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my (frank)ing words. You think you can get away with saying that poop over the Internet? Think again, (frank)er. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. Youre (frank)ing dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and thats just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little poop. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little clever comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your (frank)ing tongue. But you couldnt, you didnt, and now youre paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will poop fury all over you and you will drown in it. Youre (frank)ing dead, kiddo

I wasn't really crying about it. You'd love to sign guys of that calibre, but if not, ShannaLouCock are doing great things anyway.

Love to see another Isles vs. Leafs playoff round because as I recall, and it was eons ago because both teams have sucked, but that was one of the crazier series I've seen.

In both countries we get the same thing, a choice of giant douche, or turd sandwich. Just in Canada we have four significant federal parties so we get to also consider selecting from a couple other flavours of douche and turd.

This year the American choices for douche and turd are...particularly dramatically douchey and turdy. Then again we elected Rob Ford, a crack smoking drunk CFL fan as TOs mayor. And then he got selected to the HHOF board, that's insane.
