He seems like the pro game, similar to Jake Virtanen, is more suited to the way he plays. I think he's a really solid kid playing a difficult position. I suspect he make the team out of camp this year. - LeftCoaster
Lol since he plays in Brandon, where i'm from I get to hear all about him going to the NHL since he was drafted. Problem is, you see him play against other players that are a year older and aren't in the NHL and they look more dominate out there then he is.
Last year in the finals it was Madison Bowey and Leon Driasitil make him look like a 16 year old. This year Marner and well a bunch of other players made him look ordinary. \
There are some players in the philly system that are older. The wheat kings will probably have another strong team this year so they may leave him in Brandon to see if he can go the Mem cup again. |

Ya he's not a flashy player by any means, but I stand with my view that he's a really good young dman. I've seen enough of him to say there's holes in his game, but like I said, I like the skill-set he has for the pro game.
I've played major junior hockey, it's run and gun, everything off the rush, I also played for Kelly McCrimmon when he coached Junior A in Battleford Sask.
The pro game is so much more structured, I think he does well in the pros. |

At 5 where Van picked, say it was probably the "smartest" choice. I don't think I would have taken him top 4. |

He is good, I'm not arguing that. I just think he's still a season or 2 away from the nhl. |

He hasn't 'rated high' in any stats, be it fancy or otherwise ahah.
That said, Florida must have rated/valued the likes of Yandle, Demers and Phychk (sp) over EG in the sense that they though he was disspensable.
Hopefully Benning comes out on top this time around. - Whiskey-Tango
That's definitely one way to look at it, I have a different perceptive...each team had a specific need. Benning wanted a defense man and Florida needed a forward. Much like the Edmonton/New Jersey trade.
And JB traded for Gudbranson a month before those players were acquired by Florida, which I assume created a hole that they needed to fill.
I also don't for a minute believe that JB is as bad as you're insinuating, "comes out on top this time around" Don't let dislike get in the way of being objective. |

To be honest, that kid Edmonton drafted, ummm…goes and looks up his name. Darnell Nurse. Reminds me a lot of Provorov without the fighting. You're going to see some highs and some lows but you're going to love have this kid on your team…if you're' a Philly fan. |

Agreed….Juolevi isn't a flashy player either, positionally he's really solid and calm with the puck. To me he looked over his shoulder when retrieving the puck in his own end, decided the easiest outlet, and made the play.
He protected the puck well, didn't throw it away, made a GOOD hard outlet pass or chipped the puck to a safe area.
The one thing he needed to work on, IMO, is his edge work, skating needs to improve from a lateral perspective. This is where Stetcher just blew me away, I couldn't believe how well he could skate and how focused he was…a great signing by Benning.
I'm glad Stetcher wanted to come back home to try and realize a pro career with the Canucks!! |

I know. I was there for him when he was struggling with acute menopause and all I get is some half-hearted comment that my hanging baskets might look decent. |

He probably thinks Boeser was a terrible draft pick. |

Benning, love or hate him has certainly made enough moves that he has fundementally impacted both the direction and composition of the team.
As such, the need to remain objective is now moot. One can either like or dislike the current direction of the team as dictated by its general manager....or not. At this point, one 'side' is no better (for arguments sake) then the other.
Having the ability to agree or disagree (i.e forming an opinion), is the inherent purpose of a discussion board.
