So let me get this straight....sens can't afford to pay hoffman over 5-5.5m so they trade him to Calgary for Mony or Johnny Hockey who would be worth over 6m in their new contracts.

You know if the Sens move Hoffman its for a contract in the 4m range plus a punch of other crap to make it seem like "fair value"

Ek reported Hoffman is rumoured to be traded, so we should all bet that he isn't going anywhere. I really like our odds.

Hoff won't reach arb hearing. He'll sign 4-5 years x $5.1-$5.3.

I didn't look at that before I posted, now this rumour is starting to make even more sense.

Side Note: If ek comes out saying Frolik for Hoffman e3 or some poop you guys will know that I am one of Ek's "sources"

The Flames can't afford to move Frolik. He's one of our 2 NHL caliber RWS. For Hoffman it would have to be a package deal around a dman and prospects, or Bennett/Backlund straight up.

I'm an Oiler's fan, isn't it normal to trade you're best player for a maybe player? I thought the "tongue out" emoji would have been enough to imply sarcasm. Only Chiapete would be stupid enough to make that deal

He's a left shot who was converted to the right wing. Ottawa won't want prospects or centres (or else backlund would make a lot of sense). I'm not saying I'd be 100% in on this deal but we need someone who can play with Bennett, Frolik's better suited to a defensive forward role like Backlund and Hoffman is a legit top 6 winger.

I only brought Frolik up because he is most likely the offer BT would make (Bennett for Hoffman would be a massive mistake on our part). Frolik's frontloaded contract could be of interest to Melnyk (especially if we were able to eat some of the 5 mill in salary he's owed this year).

While I think Frolik for Hoffman would be something Treliving should find a way to get done, simply due to age and production, I'd really like to see another year of Frolik before letting that ship sail.
Frolik struggled on the score sheet last year, but there was nothing wrong with his play. He was a possession driver, his defensive game was great, and he was around the net all year long. For whatever reason, he seemed snakebit. I'd really like to see another year and give him a chance to show that he's worth that contract.
I like Hoffman, but don't think the upgrade from Frolik warrants what the Flames would have to add to make it happen. Additionally, regardless that Frolki shoots left, he is a right winger and a pretty good one at that. Just because Treliving wanted to address the complete lack of right shooting forwards, doesn't mean hes going to slot out every position as a mild to be followed.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see why Ottawa entertains that offer for a second. I can see why Calgary has interest, but that bid is less than appetizing for the Sens.

I'm sorry did you say gaudreau has the same value as Hoffman..... That's a real joke right there even Monahan... Because he is a centre he is worth more. Also tkachuk is probably worth more because of how much potential the kid had. And if you don't agree with that would you trade the 6th overall pick for Hoffman.. Hell no

The only one I could see being fair bennett and that's still a hell no from Calgary

If this trade happens it'll be for vets like wideman and a b level prospect to free up cap

- Bigalow

Look historically at the 6th overall pick and most people would make that trade. Almost none of them are proven 25+ goal scorers.
