He's a left shot who was converted to the right wing. Ottawa won't want prospects or centres (or else backlund would make a lot of sense). I'm not saying I'd be 100% in on this deal but we need someone who can play with Bennett, Frolik's better suited to a defensive forward role like Backlund and Hoffman is a legit top 6 winger.
I only brought Frolik up because he is most likely the offer BT would make (Bennett for Hoffman would be a massive mistake on our part). Frolik's frontloaded contract could be of interest to Melnyk (especially if we were able to eat some of the 5 mill in salary he's owed this year).

While I think Frolik for Hoffman would be something Treliving should find a way to get done, simply due to age and production, I'd really like to see another year of Frolik before letting that ship sail.
Frolik struggled on the score sheet last year, but there was nothing wrong with his play. He was a possession driver, his defensive game was great, and he was around the net all year long. For whatever reason, he seemed snakebit. I'd really like to see another year and give him a chance to show that he's worth that contract.
I like Hoffman, but don't think the upgrade from Frolik warrants what the Flames would have to add to make it happen. Additionally, regardless that Frolki shoots left, he is a right winger and a pretty good one at that. Just because Treliving wanted to address the complete lack of right shooting forwards, doesn't mean hes going to slot out every position as a mild to be followed.
