No of course not, but that's a false equivalency. It's not a scout going to an NHL game. It's a GM going to a summer league game. You learn pretty much nothing from a summer league game. Other than maybe how good he is at chirping. He's giving maybe 50% effort, so what's the point? I'm not saying it's tampering, but it's not 100% kosher either.

Totally wrong here. Murray did things the right way, he traded for Vesey's rights. If Chicago and Bowman want to talk to Vesey they need to step up and trade for his rights, hanging around the rinks and surreptitiously scouting Vesey is tampering and the Sabres should be pissed about it.

Bowman is not scouting Vesey, that warden by the scouts who watched him play the last 4 years+ in meaningful games. Bowman showing up to these summer meaningless practice games is nothing more than communicating to Vesey that the Hawks are interested, without saying a word. Him showing up twice, says "WE ARE EXTREMELY INTERESTED"!! I think Tim Murray should offer his rights to the Hawks for a 3rd round pick.

To be fair GM's usually don't go to summer leagues to scout players whose rights belong to another team. It's a bit unusual. I don't think it's tampering per se, but it's pretty gauche, uncouth, indecorous, pick your adjective...

If Vesey wanted to sign, he would have by now. Seems like he has his mind made up IMO. I think some level of tampering happens all the time. If the Oilers didn't know they would get Lucic, I don't think they would have traded Hall.

Or he could be smart and wait till August 15th, and not give up a 3rd. Seems like Vesey knows where he wants to go, and clearly having extra time to woo him isn't going to change his mind.

Now as far as "inside folks", who knows how reliable they are, if they're anything like EK's sources then we know he's not signing with the Bruins

Look up tampering in the CBA. No where does it state that a GM can not be in the same vacinity as a player who's contract is owned by another team. So does this mean Jimmy's Dad and Brother can't watch his games too? Is that tampering? What if they talk to him...

One thing is abundantly certain about this Vesey situation. He is NOT going to sign with the Sabres.

I think it's pretty obvious he doesn't want to sign with Buffalo. In that case, as a fan, wouldn't you think that the best case scenario is that some other team trades a pick for advance negotiation rights? You know, exactly like Buffalo did? And if that's the case, wouldn't you want GMs scouting him?
