Born and raised here. Only left for University and to graduate high school... it drags ya back.
Funny thing... my wife and I LOVE Montreal (and she's one of strange Leaf fans). Would move there if the winters didn't suck so large - mlindsay

i think they are sitting at 45 or so
my guess is that they know there is no rush... its an important contract... so why not take their time... there is no hurry here.
guys like mcgran over emphasize meaningless stuff like this to get hits... pre-internet you would never hear about this kind of nonsense - Dozzer
A very alliterative Leafs fan site (that will remain nameless of course) has a decent article today about how ELC bonus' work. When you see how it all works, the delay is no surprise at all.
The amount of BS that is written by people in regard to this team is absurd. Our management team can't fart without some clown writing about how said fart proves something is wrong with the entire organization.
The newest spin, that the lack of a Mathews contract proves that Lou and the rest of the management are not on the same page, is only a touch less ridiculous than people actually believing it. |

People are losing patience in year 2 I see look at the leafs defence and tell me how this team isn't bottom 10 - ClarksonDavid
To be fair, I'd be growing impatient as well. It's year two of a rebuild after how many unsuccessful ones? I'm not trolling, but that's a tough pill to swallow. |

It can be a poop show getting on/off the cape depending on when you leave
There was a 20 mile back up on Route 6 a couple weeks ago (the one that gets you to the bridge off the cape). - RickJames77
Yeah, I got lucky leaving on a Tuesday night. Getting on was a Saturday morning and the traffic was brutal. Thankfully, it was the Saturday of the draft so my dad and I just streamed the draft while we sat in the parking lot waiting to cross the bridge.
I heard we didn't even have it that bad. |

There has never been a proper rebuild out of this franchise.
Burke helped rebuild, sure. Helped rebuild the (frank)ing Bruins

Just because there wasn't a proper rebuild doesn't mean that there wasn't one. But I do agree, that Burke tried to implement many stopgaps.
Point is, I'd be growing impatient. I'd get it, but doesn't mean I'd have to like it. |

Fair enough
I'm more optimistic than impatient. I think the team will have more skill than last year and one can't just sleep on what a real starting goalie can do. Even though the jaded fans in here don't seem to get that.
Playoffs might be pretty lofty, but it wouldn't shock me to see them challenging for a wild card.
Wouldnt be the first time a team overachieved and surprised |

That's the hard part. What has made it easy is the fact that everything APPEARS to be going the right way. There is a lot less of a feeling of, "maybe this will work!" It feels a lot more like, "this should work!" now. |

I almost worry more that they overachieve this year, and then underachieve the following year just by being where they're supposed to be. That's what happened in Calgary and Colorado, and while those fans seem to have been pretty patient, I wouldn't be too excited about the piping hot Leafs takes we would have to listen to if it happened in Toronto. |

I totally get that and I agree. There's nothing more frustrating than a rebuild/retool with no direction. I currently feel like my team is doing just that and I know you all know the feeling. They're doing everything right and 3 or 4 years from now watch out.
I would just be annoyed over I guess you could call it the spilled milk of previous regimes. There's nothing you can do, but I'd still feel slighted and a little frustrated regardless of whether the teams current direction and management are so far and beyond what they had prior. |
