If they aren't as high on Pedan then they should trade him. - A_SteamingLombardi
If they weren't high on Higgins they should of traded him too |

I hear what you are saying but I think there are a lot of question marks with our Defense still and they will want some of that stability that Biega brings.
I also don't think they are as high on Pedan as they were earlier in his career. I can't see them being that upset losing him either. - belcherbd
Pedan +Sbisa + 4th for MoJo or Kreider |

Were you asleep during the whole Corrado fiasco. People here years from now will still be complaining to their grandkids how we let the big one get away |

No but as per usual you are leaving out some of the details....
People were upset that they let Corrado go because it was unnecessary at the time. They had room on their roster if they chose to use it. |

The worst team in the league , with a horrible D still haven't made him an offer. I think I will be able to sleep comfortably even though it was a horrible loss |

No I wouldn't expose Pedan over Biega.
I also think Pedan is more likely to be claimed out of the two of them but I think the impact of losing Biega would be more detrimental to this team's goal.
Edit.for your edit. Then you would understand why this team would waive Pedan - belcherbd
If this team requires Biega to play regularly we aren't making the playoffs. He won't be playing unless we are hit with several injuries. |

Ya, planning for that would be a waste a time.... Look I'm stoked to see what Tryamkin and Larsen bring and if Hutton can continue his development but they are far from sure things. |
|
|
|
I don't understand that?
If a team claims him they wouldn't be able to send the player down and save that additional money without Van or some other team getting to claim him. - belcherbd
It's a 750K one way contract for a player that before last year had 7 NHL games, if he hadn't played so many games because of injuries last year no other team would even look at him. |

What are you getting at? Biega is not important to the Canucks. If Larsen, Sbisa, and Tryamkin get injured then yes, he may play. If he is forced to play 25 plus games then the season is likely lost. The Canucks have planned for injuries as can clearly be seen from our improved depth on the back end. If you are proposing losing Pedan to waivers to protect Biega..well I am speechless. |

I'm not proposing anything, like I clearly said, I could see them protecting him over Pedan.
My point was those players are relatively unknown, assuming they will all be better than Biega at this point is pretty naive. Larsen and/or Tryamkin might be back in the Europe by Xmas for all we know. That "improved " depth on the back end has played what 60-70 games at the NHL level the last 3 seasons? |

I agree, but the contract he signed allowing him to make his full salary in the AHL won't shelter him from being picked up or at least understand why it would. |

That is a pretty pessimistic view.
Edler/Tanev
Hutton/ EG
Larsen/ Sbisa
Pedan/ Biega
Why is it naïve to think they will all be better than Biega? Larsen has way more NHL experience than Biega. Tryamkin also has more high level pro experience. Put it this way, if Larsen and Tree fizzle out and end up back in Europe (highly unlikely), Benning will sign or trade for another player. Biega will be in Utica |

That's ok I seen who you guys took with your second round pick. My suggestion with the way you guys pick , stock pile all you can get. Stockpile them like a squirell gathering nuts for the winter. |
