But of course it does, that's why I'm against trading our top prospects and all for trading 2nd tier of prospects...if Baertschi, Granlund, Etem, Rodin combination can secure shiny guy go for it.
We will have our own shiny guys in a few years, and if they aren't trading these guys there will be more high end prospects drafted. - Makita
Hawks have won 3 cups in the last 6 years. In the last 6 years how many of their first round picks are currently on the roster?
Same question with the Kings ? How many of their first round picks in the last 6 years are currently on the NHL roster? |

I dont really see it a a "demotion" because Loui is a talented player who could help create balance on the 2nd line and isnt that what you guys are looking for in the end is scoring balance?.....who knows how many years left the Sedins have so maybe its a good idea to see if Loui can gel with any of the younger guys now instead of waiting for the Sedins to hang it up to find out - RatedR80
It's not a demotion at all . Some people are over dramatic. |

Yes he is, and then we finish at 16-22 and draft lesser prospect. I like the Sedins but I hope to god they (JB,TL) don't trade to become mediocre, landing Landeskog will not take the Sedins to the SCF. - Makita
Pittsburg were trending downwards for a couple of years . Made a few trades and changes and voila |

Yes, we're right up there with the Hawks as cup favourites ........ |

I'd like to see what they can do together before we play them apart. I doubt the Sedins will be gone at the end of this deal. |

You are totally missing the point . Eriksson gets his 30 , Daniel turns into a passer again and drops his goal production.
Go take a look at the numbers of two yeas ago. Robbing Peter to pay Paul - VANTEL
So with Hansen 61
With vrbata 69.
Hansen with sedins then without +6
Vrbata without the sedins -18
That's a 12 goal drop to spread out the scoring. |

I agree and in the end I dont feel like the Nucks paid him 6 mil a year to ride shotgun with the Sedins tho thats gonna be a great PP line for you guys

Exactly build a 6 year relationship with their best young centre . Bo was on of our best players in the second half. |

No I dont think they will be either but Loui will still have 4 years after their contracts expire so I guess it depends on how you look at it......personally I just feel it benefits the Canucks better if you split them because you would have two lines other teams would have to worry about as opposed to just shutting down one line and calling it a day....Loui is a damn good player and I think he could help create that balance that is needed

Is not on too many teams that scoring is divided equally. - thundachunk
I look at Eriksson and think he is going to produce away from the Sedins, try him with Sutter and Bo, see if there is a fit with either. last season Hansen did well on the Sedin's wing but isn't likely to do as well on another line.
can we get more total offense with Eriksson on the second line?

Vrbata took his ball and went home. He sulked. He had another contract to play for. Eriksson is now a major piece of the team , Vrbata was a stop gap.
Plus Henrik was down last year 7 goals due to injury |

Pretty much my point....Loui could help the younger guys take that next step because we all know the Sedins dont NEED Loui to be good....they already are...the more balance the better

You most certainly can because of the balance it would create

When Gillis was moving futures for NHL players it was defensible because we were a contender. Now that we aren't we are better served stockpiling youth, not trading it away. Despite what some may think, we really don't have much prospect depth. - golfingsince
Gillis traded Bernier ,a first , and Grabner for Ballard, not Landeskog.
He also traded 2 nd round picks for Art ( keith ) Carney?
His drafting sucked aside from Bo and Hutton . He made stupid contracts like Luongo and handed out NTC/NMC like confetti .
Those days are over.
As much as some people reciting a bottom 10 finish , that will not happen |

Exactly Loui and Bo develop a second line and when Sedins retire they step in.
Sutter will be here for 5 years so start working on him and Boeser in 2017 |

Again we have 14 players this year on the Canucks under 27
In the system
Demko
Juolevi
Boeser
Brisebois
Stetcher
Subban
The next tier down will have a surprise or two also maybe a Lockwood or D Aoust or Abols? Need to wait and see.
That's a lot of youth banging at the door. |

Pretty much.....play them together now to see if they can develop the chemistry to take over the top spot when the twins do retire and hey if they dont have great chemistry then better to find out now then after the twins retire so you can then tinker and plan accordingly....planning for the future while still trying to be good in the present....sounds solid to me

We had a terrible D last year. An injury riddled year. Players playing out of position, and a management that was doing a stealth tank. What could possibly go wrong?
Most people look at last year as a trend , or the norm.
We will be much better this year. |

They definitely can . Especially if they make a trade for a top 6.
Then the goal should be win one round |
