I just wouldn't waste the roster spot or cap space. Now this guy is a guy that can cause problems in a dressing room - VANTEL
I don`t care where Vrbata signs, nhl or europe, as long as he isn`t back here.
Hudler might have a better attitude but I don`t see the fit.

I read that earlier.
The nice thing about it is , our cupboards were bare two years ago and practically every roster on here had him as #4 center. Now that we are less of a panic mode we hope he springs back but we can still compete with out him |

I have been a little frustrated with JB trading for contracts of players who have yet to have established themselves as maybe everyday NHLers like Granlund but as you say, it kind of sets who will be in the lineup and the luxury of not rushing other guys who need more seasoning and development in Utica.
I`m wondering if we will see Sutter on the right wing again this season?
and with the expectation of JB making another move, if he makes a trade for a winger, another forward has to be moved or exposed to waivers to make room, could that mean Etem or Burrows waived?
Grenier still has to sign, but I don't think there would be much hesitation to waive him if room is needed and I think whoever just signed like Megna would have to clear. |

I honestly believe Granlund is a utility player. In and out.
Etem it depends how he plays? If he plays like he did when he came here , he will be gone. If he plays like he did at the end of last year he will be rewarded.
Sutter will play center. We have too many wings already.

We need to be focusing on center position and offensive zone face offs. We were very poor there last season. Also if Trymakin makes the team WD better put his ass in front of the net on the PP. Have them playing a high low game much like San Jose. Zone entry is also key. |

We do, but I think JB wants another 2nd line winger. JB said something about seeing Sven as a 3rd line winger or not wanting to rush him into that 2nd line role. I think JB also suggested Rodin would be 3rd line winger.
Sedins Eriksson
Etem/Burrows/UFA Sutter Hansen
Sven Bo Rodin
if we don't sign a ufa, I'd rather see:
Sedins Eriksson
Sven Bo Sutter
Etem Granlund Hansen
or some other 3rd line combo
I wonder how much training camp will influence the lineup or if WD has something in mind already? |

Sutter is much better on the face-offs dot than everyone on our team as I just said we need to strengthen that area. |

I liked Sutter when he was on the Sedin's wing. And was able to take some faceoffs too.
maybe I shouldn't get caught up on line numbers, but I see Bo getting more points, being better offensively than Sutter
Some don't think Bo is ready for the 2nd line centre role, I think his offensive game is there but he might need some help around the defensive side of the puck.
but if you keep Sutter at centre, I guess Bo will get some easier match-ups and we are stronger down the middle.
unless we sign a ufa, I don't think a line of this, Etem/Burrows Sutter Hansen is much of an offensive threat |

This is just it…risky.
I see what MNGT would want with Hudler, JB may want to try to recreate how great Hudler was with Monahan and Gaudreau and plant him on a line with Bo and Sven…similar kind of mentorship but the problem is Bo and Sven aren't quite as good as Monahan and Gaudreau. Agree I'm just not sure where Hudler would fit. Soft player and I don't see him working with Bo or Sutter. |

Kane isn't much of a risk in my opinion. Of course that is vastly dependent on the cost to acquire him. If he keeps up his off ice antics then you expose him in the expansion draft and good riddance. If he doesn't go during that (he would arguably be the best option on our team despite his downfalls), then his contract expires the year after and he won't make the big bucks anymore.
I still think being at home he would be better. Wishful thinking maybe but I just think it would be a home run for the organization to sell tickets and such. |

Sutter needs to play center to take the defensive responsibilities away from Horvat. Bo needs more o-zone starts, that'll help his +/- and hopefully his points. |

There is absolutely no room for another signing. Still have Grenier and Pedan who were issued qualifying offers. Max cap space I see is around 3 million but probably more like 2 ish. I agree, trade is the only way or the roster starts the way it is.

If the cost is low and we can squeeze 20 goals out of him it's worth the risk. |

Who plays with Sutter? He's like an offensive dead zone outside of his 20 goals, Hudler, who can pass, would actually be a good fit offensively.
What I mean by that is Sutter doesn't "create" offence for his wingers. Very good on the dot and ok defensively though. |
|
|
|
Sedin Sedin Eriksson
Beartschi Sutter Hansen
Burrows Horvat Vitanen
Rodin Granlund Dorsett
Gaunce, Etem
Unless (as Vantel says) a trade is coming I would say this is pretty close to what we will see.
I don't dislike Etem but I don't believe in him either. He is not consistent. I actually have more faith in Gaunce making the team.
Lets say Kane is coming over. Burrows or Hansen needs to be moved with that trade. Financially that is the only scenario I can see happening.
Lots of scenarios are going to play out this season.
I for one wouldn't mind Vrbata back at the right price.

That puts pressure on Bo though, from all indications last year, he needs more time to round out his game. |

Offensively I really don't see us that improved.
Defensively I believe we are improved.
Goaltending I am not worried about. |
