But basically they may have put themselves back in cap constraints, because if Miller plays well, like I think he will, he will cost way more then than now. I would rather take flier at $4 mil now, knowing he could be exposed in expansion draft if he regressed substantially, rather than paying way more down the road if he pans out. It could be $5 mil+ in future, meaning cap space will have been eaten up by being shortsighted.

As of right now the Rangers had a tad under 38 million dollars in 2 years, so I'm not that worried about cap space then. It just depends if Canada still has a federal reserve and the League decided their garbage 3 billion dollar Sportsnet TV deal is worth raising the cap.

Brayden Schenn's lest 3 seasons. 20, 18 and 26 goals. Seems like he's find consistency. Would have been better if you mentioned Luke

Luke is very consistent. Consistently poop...but consistent

Yup. Same thing in junior. All the tools and no finished product...Kreider too...you guys should trade for Gardiner and complete the set.

I am bullish on Miller and think bridge deal was a mistake. Feel free to keep Gardiner

I like the bridge deal. don't know if Miller was open to a longer term deal. maybe he only wanted a bridge deal too. would you sign a $4M 5+ year contract if you were him. I think he bet on himself again and is hoping to sign a $6M+ 5+ year contract at the end of this one. which I would be happy to pay him... IF he earns it. I think there is nothing we hate more as fans than players that are WAY overpaid... Wade Redden anyone?

I like the deal, but if they wanted to sign 1 rfa for long term it should have been Miller.

Could there be a King deal? That would be nuts. Stars would probably sacrifice 40 Finnish virgins for it

JT Miller is consistently inconsistent
- rangerdanger94

Lets be honest. Last year was his 1st chance at top line minutes, and that was only for maybe 3/4 of a season if that. Saw limited PP time.

The reason he didn't get minutes the years prior was his attitude, AV said as much in a rare criticism of a player to the media.

The guy consistently puts in the effort. As for being hot and cold, almost every player is like that except the Ovi's, Benn's,etc. Even Crosby started the year like poop and some of their own fans thought he was done.

So you are being a bit ridiculous about saying he is inconsistent.

So unless we have all our forwards scoring 40-50 gs a year they are inconsistent?

You do realize the majority of players go hot and cold, right?

This was his 3 straight seasons with 40+ points, 5 or more GWG, and 150+ SOG.

For $4.7M per year for the next 6 years, then he should consistently score 25-35 goals a year.

Isn't that why you don't want to give Kreider that same extension? What changes for Miller? His effort? If we were willing to give that type of extension for effort, Hagelin would still be here.

Kreider and Miller scored almost identical stat lines this past season. The difference is that Kreider scored 21 goals the year before, and 17 goals the year before that. That's 3 years of pretty consistent production. Miller scored 10 the year before and 3 before that in his short seasons.

But Miller is the consistent one worthy of $4.7M per year but Kreider is not?

Where did you get that number from?? I never once even mentioned close to 4. I said if he was willing to take 3.25-3.5 for longer.

Your also leaving out Miller hasn't had a shot at top line minutes( his own doing with the attitude) and almost no PP time compared to Kreider.

I thought everyone is comparing Miller to Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck
