Arizona at 7th? surprise surprise, Eastern based media and fanbases are a complete farce
Based on the rankings I guess we'll (again) have to embrace the "Us Vs Them" attitude. I have no problem with that, though - Zogg

Sorry but this is wrong. Every team that misses the playoffs in the league wishes they were that lucky. Draisatl has developed into a great centre, McDavid was a guarantee, and Pulj looks like he will put up 30-40g/season for the next 10+ years. Just because they got lucky, doesn't mean that the players coming up are worthless. - Retinalz
I didn't say anything about their players being worthless, I was saying that their drafting/develop has been terrible.
It doesn't take talent to draft the concenous 1st overall player or 3rd or whatever falls to them.

I honestly think The Hockey News is a troll site. I have seen a few things with them and it always seems to want to poke the bear. I even called one of their editors an idiot on social media and he wanted to get into it like Tanner. |

But their drafting has been awful outside of the first pick, and with the accumulated assets they had, they havent been able to turn it into anything besides a bottom finish. I can see fans having some confidence that they are going to round out the roster but now they finally acquired a solid defenseman it cost them one of the best wingers in the game. Hard to feel confident in management after that - WhiteLie
Doesn't matter. It is a quality vs quantity game. McDavid is the highest quality player under 22 in the league, draisatl is up there with him and pulj is now as well. name a player dafted outside the top 10 in the last 5 years that are better than one of these players, also state who((pulj is unknown in NHl yet, so it is possible to name one or 2, but none higher projected) |

But it does matter, otherwise they would have had better results by now. Like it was said earlier, its a poll on confidence in management. Getting an NHL player with a top 5 pick and then nothing in rounds 2-7 should not instill confidence in your management's ability to draft. We are all pretty confident in JB because in his first draft he looks like hes getting 4 NHL players out of it, thats excellent. Virtanen, McCann, Demko and Tryamkin aren't McDavid but sets the future of the team up pretty well in comparison |

I wonder what GM has drafted the most players not in the top 10 over the last three years that have played in the NHL more than 10 games |

From those 3 drafts:
McDavid, Nurse and Draisatl were top 10 picks, and Yakimov only played 1 game
Nylander was 8OA, Gauthier played 7 games and Valiev played 10 games so was filtered out because I went more than 10GP |
