I don't hate him for Wedgie's reasons. I get what he's saying, but I don't share the sentiment.
I don't even get into the Sundin wouldn't waive thing, to me it's beyond rationality to blame him for mismanagement. To me he was one of the most remarkable players of all time and a great Leafs captain who carried the team on his back for over a decade. I love Sundin, I would die for him. - Zezel
I don't disagree. Just thought given the reasoning both should be on his list |

I have a feeling Andersen will be a little worse, and Bernier a little better, than each was last season. Andersen doesn't move a whole lot. And if Toronto's defense is near it's usual level, watch out. Bernier on the other hand will actually have a defense in front of him. - yzermaneely
Bernier lacks focus. |

Yeah I don't really agree with his reasoning on Salming, I guess we both don't.
I hated Bernier cause he seems like a stupid douche who can't stop a puck. The owner during the 80s, obviously. Let's see, who else did I actually hate...Versteeg seemed like a twat...Toskala made some female dog ass comments about the Leafs after sucking himself, (frank) him...Ron Wilson seems like a poopstain, that's about it. |

He was just a complete, all-world player for them even into his late 30s, it's crazy. All that rubbish about being mad at Sundin because instead of being traded he tried to carry the team on his back into the playoffs, it's just makes no sense to me whatsoever. |

One of my top 10 hated Leafs was Count Floyd Smith. He was a sh!tty hockey player and terrible GM. He's the guy that traded our first for Tom Kurvers and then the team tanked to last place during the Lindros draft. We ended up losing Scott Niedermeyer, over that little gem. He then tried to hide his mistakes, by trading more players and draft picks, for 3rd and 4th liners(Lucien Deblois), so they didn't get to dead last and have the stench of losing Lindros over his head. He was also a crackerjack scout that couldn't draft worth a sh!t, as well. - PrinceLH
I think it was Mike Smith not Floyd that pulled off the Deblois deal from the Nords. Didn't he also trade him to the Jets for Ellett and Paul Fenton? |

The Leafs were not going to make the playoffs that year. Sundin knew it. The team knew it. The media knew it. The fans knew it.
It was in his right to reject waiving his NTC but for the sake of the team it would have been a noble thing for him to do. That said, it's a very minor blemish to an almost perfect run as a Leaf. |

I don't really hate Sundin. He was a great player for the Leafs.
That said, it was rather douchy how he went on about wanting to retire a Leaf, so he wouldn't accept a trade...then he joins the Canucks halfway into the next season for one more cup attempt.
If he really wanted one last chance at a cup, couldn't he have asked management to trade him somewhere where that might be possible? Instead he left us with nothing at the end of the season and joined the Canucks, which felt like a huge slap in the face to many Leaf fans. THAT was what pissed me off. I get that people change their minds, but that still felt like him going back on his words. Does it really even count as retiring a Leaf when you then immediately play another season somewhere else?
Edit: I've just checked my facts. Apparently he didn't want to waive because he didn't believe in being a rental player and wanted to win a cup with a team he was part of a whole season...THEN he joined the Canucks halfway into the next season - totally once again proving the lie of his past comments for not waiving. Way to go Sundin, bumhole. |

The backroom deals are pretty interesting. This is what you get with a GM with Lou's track record and clout. |

I think I'm good now. That was very cathartic.
I still liked him as a Leaf, and I don't necessarily think he "owed" us a trade. Just the fact that he gave reasons why he didn't want to that never really made a lot of sense, then went back on them the next year anyways. Just an annoying end to his great time as a Leaf. |
