Where do we fall with the Schenn situation. Is it Schenn's camp thinking he is worth more, or the Flyers camp thinking he's worth less.

Obviously I'm biased against Schenn. I think he's not a core player and will wind up being a 3rd/4th liner on a team with more talent than the Flyers.

I've never been a huge Brayden Schenn fan, but my guess is Hextall has a price he is willing to pay at a certain term and won't go beyond it. That's just the nature of negotiations.

I think Hextall knows enough about Brayden Schenn at this point that I trust him with whatever he decides, whether it's a new contract or trading Schenn.

The problem with getting rid of Schenn, though, is you've got to figure out how to replace his output. That doesn't mean I want to see him get overpaid on a long contract, but it does mean that if you're going to move on from Schenn, you have to figure out what the next step is, on the ice.

He had the hype to be a core player, but hasn't become a core player - to me. He's a less talented Mike Richards with a taller body - but thinner. Minus the work ethic to outwork anyone on the ice. I speak of the Richards of old, not the new Richards. The new Richards is probably an identical match to the current Schenn.

If Richards got Schenn's ice time I'd wager he would put up the same numbers and have a larger impact. It's moot regardless, however.
