Still think he is kind of odd man out unless Provorov is terrible and goes back to juniors.

Shoot my thinking would be to take less, I think hometown discounts are great. Why suck up all the cap space? I look at it as what's the difference between $5M and $6M you are still making a ton of money, let the team use that other $1M to make the team better.

Edit: If two opposing players fight for the puck for a certain amount of time, other players join into the fight, resulting in the player from the losing team in the fight to be put in the penalty box for a period of time.

It's easy to say take a discount to help the team.

But no person is going to say " You know what Paul....5 million a season is a little high for me. How about we do 4 million and give some to the other guys"


Yes Stamkos might have taken less compared to open market. But he also had to weigh in the fact of winning soon.
