This quote right here should be followed up by HockeyBuzz asking this clown of a blogger to resign his position as frolicking jester in the carnival of clowns. His desire to bash the Blackhawks has taken him to levels even I couldn't have imagined. The Hawks have LOTS to be "minus'ed" for, but dumping Rundblad isn't one of them.
And by the way, he WAS put on waivers last freaking year and NOT ONE single team (including your Coyotes) claimed him. James Tanner > ALL NHL Gms...I think not.
 - kwolf68
Why do you think I hate the Hawks? Are you so sensitive about anyone saying anything about your team that the fact I don't like they dumped an underrated bottom of the roster player makes you go insane?
Because the ratio of reaction to comment here isn't healthy. |

Good stuff James
1) you think Steve Simmons is "the most influential hockey writer in the world" and yet you think he's only right 2% of the time? Come on man, those two things don't' add up.
2) You added Subban to a list of players that already included himself, how is that possible?
3) Jim Benning is far > than John Chayka….Canucks will finish ahead of the Yotes and be better for years to come |

I like the Martin deal, actually. But Polak indicates the Leafs still have some antiquated views that I thought they had gotten over. Personally, I hear you- it's one year and he probably gets you a 4th round pick in March, no big deal. - James_Tanner
I think you are always going to see these types signed to young teams.
You don't need the Cal Clutterbucks and Zac Rinaldo's taking runs at Matthews/Nylander/Marner.
Regardless of whether Martin or Polak actually effect that, it's still a mindset the NHL has |

I'd give him a max contract and see if TB could match it. They couldn't. Taylor Hall and Alex Ovechkin. That's my list of wingers I'd rather have next season than Kucherov. - James_Tanner
You would say that you would give him $14+ million. It's a great way to troll. Already working...as evidenced by my reply. |

I don't disagree with you (unless of course Subban was truly detrimental in the locker room). But, I think that's really, really hard to know unless you are truly part of the organization.
Do you have a link to the original article? I'd be interested to read the original as well as your take. |

James tanner being the worst blogger on here.
Even with as lax as this site is , how do you even get a platform .
Runsbad might be the worst Blackhawk in the past 10 years. 100% the worst trade Bowman has ever made.
Something is wrong with you. |

Re: #2…."Adding P.K to a team that includes Elias, Ekholm, Subban and Josi is the best in the league and it isn't even debatable."
Re: #3….just look at the kids Benning has drafted in the past three years, his clear deficiencies in running a club is falling right into his own hands as he's a pure drafting genius!! Chayka has no track record, therefore, Benning far greater than Chayka! |

A little overblown don't you think? The Subban trade is a win for Nashville but not by the landslide you seem to want to make people think. I see it as a fairly even trade in the first 3-4 years then will swing Nashville's way. Was PK a problem in the room? Who knows but if he was then its also addition by subtraction.
The Hall trade on the other hand |

Nucks are the new dumpster fire of the division. Virtanen does not look impressive. Loui is 32, twins are old and are going to be re-signed to anchor contracts so all 3 can decline together. Miller is not even a top 15 goalie anymore.
Maybe they should actually rebuild, instead of going for 9th place?

Max deal - I believe is 20% of the salary cap. You are using 'max deal' in the same way that the mainstream media misuses it. Shame. Shame. Shame.(GoT styles)
I think nobody will ever get a max contract because...20% of the cap.... Not even when McDavid signs his inevitable offer sheet to get out of Edmonton(troll comment...he's not coming to TO in reality)... Even McD will only sign for $12mil in Edmonton which is still not close to a max contract. |

Well if you're gonna respond at least get your facts straight, Loui is 30 not 32, he turns 31 July 17th, 2016.
Secondly, Virtanen looks awesome for a 19 year old kid, he drives possession, he's a big body with a scoring touch….I have no idea what you're basing your uneducated opinion on.
Go ahead James, give the guy Virtanen's possession numbers
Canucks are doing exactly what LA and Chicago did as far as "building" they don't need to sell the whole farm to build a winner. LA and Chicago had a few good picks and they were off to the races. |

James,
Open your mind here for a moment. Because I think this is where analytics shows you something that is simply not grounded in reality.
David Rundblad is not underrated. He is not overrated. To anyone who has watched him play, being given numerous second third and fourth chances in numerous organizations, he is just awful.
Rundblad is actually, meh, ok coming up the ice—albeit about as fast as a glacier. But he can pass the puck. And he can definitely fire it.
But that's where it ends.
He is horrible defending over 200 feet of ice, because he is so slow, and he is completely non-competitive.
When a power forward like a Ladd, or a Benn, or even a Doan sees him with the puck below the circles, it's like a shark attracted to blood. He will cough up the puck and give up on the play, often leading to goals, because he has the heart of a dog.
And this, while it shows up on the scoresheet as just a turnover and/or a goal against has a huge and bad psychological effect on the entire team.
So yeah, I heard all the pushback the last couple of years, "but he's +11, he has positive possession numbers."
To which I would reply, take a look at his zone starts, and who he's playing with, which was often Duncan Keith. because he needed sheltering big time.
Rundblad is, if anything, overrated by those who point to slices of analytics as proof he's anything more than an AHL-version of Sheldon Souray, Cam Barker or Andy Delmore.
Meaning, if you can dress a guy to just play the point on the power play, in that regard, he's a worthwhile player. But that is a big "if," and typically not a luxury a team can afford these days.
Otherwise, he blows.
