only one.. Brett Lebda years back.

Cool. So his batting average is the same as what Mario overhears from the kitchen.

Good stuff

It's been franked for years.

But guys play through injuries to try to keep their jobs.

My wild guess is that he was playing through pain, then he got traded and the Leafs told him to stay home, so he then went to a doctor to try to get himself fixed.

If your hip was franked, wouldn't you do everything you could to fix it?

I don't know the specifics of his injury. But from the team's perspective, he wants to squeeze the lemon dry rather than move on with his career. He must think this is his last contract. The funny thing is - the Leafs couldn't care less about the money - it's only the cap hit they care about and he's (frank)ing that up with this move.

Does April reimer in Florida equal bikini tops and short shorts in the stands?

Agreed. I'm okay with a short term deal for Wiz or even Jultz; it'd probably drop Zeitsev onto the top line, but that sounds more appealing than handing out big money for a guy like Russell...
- lumlums

yeah even Wiz would be nice... i know you don't want him, but I'd still like Schenn

Rielly-Zaitsev
Gardiner-Schenn
Hunwick (if he's ready by camp) - Carrick
Marincin - Corrado battle it out, but I'd keep Corrado as 7D and either trade Marincin or put him on waivers.

EDIT: As for Pirri I have no idea. I'd happily ship out Bozak for picks and sign him instead

Pirri would be nice for the top 9.. but it's looking like a log jam. but he just turned 25, Toronto boy.... no risk at all, potential reward. Who knows. Plus, it's always great to have depth.

Why do we want Duchene? We have a plethora of centre's now. I know it doesn't make sense but it's true. I'd like a top four dman without giving up jvr. In my mind jvr and kadri are the only proven top six forwards we have.
- TonkaPhaneuf

Plethora of centre's so we don't need Duchesne

But we only have 2 proven top 6

Hmmmm

Anyone know if there is a website that keeps track of how many times an EK rumour has come true? Or does he keep track anywhere on this site?
- PlatosRepucklic

Once upon a time there was a website called hockeybuzz.com (no longer exists) that charted Ek and proved that he was right at a lower percentage than by random chance.

This is an impressive feat. One would think almost impossible. And yet...

Only thing with JVR is he is at his max value now (presumably). His age would suggest he is in his prime, and his contract will never be better value than it is right now.

by holding onto JVR we are essentially wasting his most productive and best value years on a bottom feeder. Whereas other teams may see value in trading futures for him as they are in win now mode.

JVR likely has more value to us now as a trade chip than he would in the future. (Especially once his contract runs out and he gets a big raise)

What are the Leafs most likely looking for in trade?

The defence market is pretty tough right now. Who do you think you pry away for JVR?

Anyone know what Polak got? I need to know exactly how outraged I am.

Side note: I called this yesterday, I have no problem with them signing him for one year.

We are still in the middle of the rebuild.
