Armstrong said Sobotka is coming back. So that leaves them at 12mil for Schwartz, Nilsson, and 2 other forwards. Schwartz at 6m, Nilsson at 1m, leaves you 5m for two forwards. Definitely not enough for Backes. Might be enough for Brouwer, but only if you expect the other signing to be a 4th liner and are happy with Jaskin, Sobotka, & Rattie fighting for the last top 9 spot. - Antilles
I'm not counting Sobotka until he actually, officially commits but he does complicate things. Schwartz can't get 6mm. The market doesn't suggest he should and it kills the cap. Schwartz with a reasonable number and the overpaid sobotka coming back leaves 2 roster spots with about 6mm left. I think you could get brouwer for around 5mm so you still get one of backs or brouwer. The problem is that leaves little to no room on the cap.
If sobotka comes back, he almost has to be traded and replaced by a brodziak type contract.

I wonder if Hudler and Umberger become real targets at a salary reduction from their prior year or a bit of a raise for bringing back the General Lee. I fear Ott may be back at say 2mm a year. Would they look to Richards, Fleischmann or Weise?
Other than Hudler and perhaps Stempniak at the right sized deals, I think I would rather save money and try Rattie and Paajarvi. |

Stempniak at a decent deal would work well with a 3rd line for us |

Trade request, Army leaked it after he traded Elliot. But if I am Elliot i am wanting to be traded when my stock is at its peak and the team i am with is going to have me as a backup also. I do not fault Elliot. I think we should have given Moose the starting job this next season and resigned him. Allen may be the future but Elliot has played great under this system. Maybe Army thinks the system will change next year with Yeo. Wo i still cannot believe Yeo will be our coach. I don't know much about him, i don't scout out or pay much attention to other teams like some of you guys do and i definitely do not do research or anything on them.
Army trying to stay clean but does speak honestly when asked certain questions it seems. Contract disputes with Sobotka, Moose's trade request, the offer for Backes for 5.5 for 3 years. Why does the public need this info? I understand it because i would like to know what is going on with my team from a fans view, but really that stuff should be kept out of the media. Kind of like what Yzerman and Stamkos did. Relatively quiet. - BluesDroogie
Armstrong did not need to say that Elliott requested a trade there. This is not the first time. I understand saying what you offered, it is a well established practice.

I am okay with Sobotka coming back.
Get an extra three-ish million after moving Shatty and inserting a different defender there. |

I think Buffalo would be best fit to move Shatty to. They would hammer out the extension. They also have tons of prospects. I would start by taking back Will Borgen and then looking to add forwards and picks. |

Watch, we will not move Shattenkirk yet again. Army is messing with his mind. He overvalues him or the other people undervalue him |

With Sobotka saying he is coming back, I think any signings have to be made with the assumption he is. And I agree Schwartz doesn't deserve 6m; but until he is signed for less, I think you have to leave 6m open to sign him. Any less and you are begging for him to get an offer sheet. So come tomorrow, which is when I expect Blues will have to make decisions about Backes & Brouwer, I expect them to not really be comfortable signing either. |

His value will shoot way up when teams strike out in free agency. He'll be moved today or this week. |

I think you have to try and trade sobotka
Anything you can get for him would be nice
He chose to leave the team two years ago. Why should they just welcome him back? It blew up in the Predators face with Radulov. Whats to stop him from leaving again if he doesn't get what he wants as far as playing time>

Agree. I don't want to see his fat, ugly face in a Blues' sweater ever again.

I would welcome back Sobotka with open arms. And I would send Paajarvi to the Wolves or trade him. I don't see the infatuation with him. |

Did someone hack EK? The tracker suggests the Leafs are in big time on Bishop. Andersen and his new contract can't be too happy about that. |
