They offered McGinn 4 yrs 16 mill before he was traded and his camp said NO, that's why they moved him.
- SABRES 89

I wouldn't hate bringing him back. It's possible.

Campbell will 100% sign in Chicago or Dallas possibly
Stempniak I would like a lot as a 3rd liner
Legwand's time is up in Buffalo

I'd go after Okposo or Boedker and also try and trade for a winger

- bluengold12

Soupy loved his time in Buffalo, already has a cup, and is getting up in age, it wouldn't surprise me if he pulled a Jagr and went to highest bidder.

IMO there are still much better options than McGinn.

I don't know, from the sound of it Murray took it as a slap in the face. I'm sure things can change.

It's not hearsay and i'm not going to get into a long discussion about how I know. Most on here know how I know so I would rather not argue with you about it please.

Personally I would be happy if we could get Mcginn for a decent price. I wouldnt mind Brouwer either. I think priority number one is Vesey though.

I'll say it again, wow that Oliers trade was bad and the Habs, Preds deal is a little confusing also.

Better/cheaper options. But Mcginn still has a place in my heart lol. I really liked him during his time with Buffalo, and even with Anaheim too because I'm a Ducks fan as well.

I won't be surprised if the trade doesnt look as lopsided at the end of the year. Larsson is young.

I could care less we lost out on Babcock, let the Leafs have him who cares. Why people throw that in the faces of Sabre fans in beyond me.
- SABRES 89

Because it was so public.

Also a lot of you guys seem to forget there are 28 other teams these players rejected(us and the team they sign with. 27 if they moved teams). If you don't think every single team other than maybe Pittsburgh and Columbus and a couple others who couldn't possibly fit him into the cap called Stamkos you are out of your mind. He stayed put on an extremely good team that made the Final and the conference finals the last 2 years and this past year they did it entirely without him. Take a breath, have a drink, sleep on it, and (frank)ing relax for a minute.

Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo and a fourth team got to make pitches in person to Stamkos this week. Detroit not one of them.

At least the Sabres were in consideration I guess.

It's all hearsay unless the team comes out and says it and even then it could be spin. The only way it's not is if something was written down and signed by both parties on league/team letterhead. Or both parties agreed in interviews on how something went down.

I heard it a few different places about the $4M x 4 for McGinn that haven't been wrong in the past. They called the botched Spezza trade at the draft when Darcy was still here. One of them said We had traded for Ovie the year the Caps sent Forsberg to the Preds, originally that's why the Caps called all the media back to the arena, but we missed the deadline by like 4 minutes. That one hasn't been substantiated, but it wouldn't surprise me, and this person was the first place I heard about the Spezza deal falling through. They also said the original Stamkos offer from Tampa was $8.5M when it was widely reported to be only $8M. Maybe they all came from one single source disseminated to different people, but I don't push people on their sources. I just like the info.

Edit: Spezza when he was still on the Sens.

(frank) it .... it's done. I would have loved Stamkos on the Leafs but I have to respect that he took less money to stay in a place he was comfortable with.

Buffalo ahead of us on the rebuild so I think you guys can get guys like Okposo or McGinn and improve your team. I think you guys are already in the mix for a playoff spot. As for the Leafs, I don't mind another year of struggles that results in a top 5 pick. Gotta preach patience.

There were 4 rumors in there. Which one are you referring to? I know I heard you say the McGinn thing. And the Stamkos original offer from way back. I also heard each of them from another source besides you which in my mind adds to their legitimacy. I've been very tempted to ask the other person who their source is, but again I just like the info and it's sporadic at best. And in the case of the Spezza one was well after the fact but before it was put out there.

I'm not bashing you at all. You don't have to prove anything. I believe you hear what you hear, but you can't think that you get the full picture. And everything you say is the legal definition of hearsay, you heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy unless you're lying about your source and it's Murray himself, and even then who's to say it's not disinformation? Again, no judgement. It is what it is. Hearsay doesn't necessarily mean false. I like hearing what you hear.

My source is as close to the players and Murray as you can get besides being on the coaching staff, he on the training staff and has been. I said it after the deal was made that McGinn was offered 4 yrs 16 mill and his camp said no, so they moved him.

Thinking about the oilers trade and IMO people need to stop thinking murray dropped the ball or compare that to another trade 2 years ago. That was and awful trade that 29 other GMs would've offered more for..
But in reality they needed a young Dman. I feel like the oilers asked about a few young Dmen on a select group of teams..Like we'd say no for risto the panthers would've said no to exblad they finally got to Larrson on the list. They were desperate for a under 24 d man and it showed. The Devils got lucky to have that certain D that was under 24 with upside but not untouchable.
