I'm not buying this Babcock chose Toronto because his wife either. Everyone argued distance to Buff from Stammer's home wasn't much different than to Toronto. At the end of the day, distance didn't matter to Stamkos anyway.
- Hatboro_Swords

Stamkos went to the team that had the best chance at winning a cup and where he didn't have to move his whole house and everything in it. End of story.

Stop complaining.

I can't think of a better place for Nash to go out to the pasture than Toronto either. Nash for JVR. Go Leafs Go! Do the Sabres a favor.

This...idk what you people don't get. The culture of this team has not changed at all. Sure we have a bit more talent this time, so we may actually win the 1st round of a playoff at some point. But its the race to 8th all over again. And until Murray makes that trade to bring in the BIG talent...or a FA gets drunk enough to sign with us...it will continue to be the race to 8th.
- feetontheair22

Are we completely forgetting about Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart? We didn't teleport back to 2009 where Roy and Vanek were our best players. Jack, Sam, Ror, and Risto are our big talent.

There are a ton of options. We sign Vesey, UFAs include Backes, Okposo, Boedkker, Brouwer. Plenty of trade options too
- ASU_Sabres14

Backus is not what this team needs, you sign Backus when your close to playoff run, Boedker stinks, Okposo will be overpaid and everyone will want to hang him in 2 years if he does nothing like Moulson and Brouwer will sign with a contender or go home to play with the Canucks.

Trade options, who ? Risto isn't going anyplace and if he did, Hall would be on this team already and I know that for a fact, you really think Nash will waive to come here ? maybe if we extend his contract. Got to give to get in a trade.

Nope. Clearly tier 4 players in the NHL

These Eichel, Reino, Risto, NYLANDER guys suck ass too.

People have no Effin patience to let guys grow together.

To everyone complaining about how bad our roster is, realize Chris Stewart, Drew Stafford, and Brian Flynn were three of our top ten producers in 2014-2015. I think we have improved dramatically since then

Boedker definitely does not stink. He put up 51 points this year and is fast. Okposo can at least skate. Moulson never could.

Weren't you also one of the ones that was sure we were getting Stamkos? Vesey remains to be seen. His options aren't too great in Toronto or Boston

- bluengold12

no I wasn't one of the ones that was sure we were getting Stamkos, I said we will go to 12 mill a year if we had to.

I do think we could potentially make the playoffs with our current roster, very uncertain, but I think it could be done. With Stamkos out of the picture I'd prefer small, smart value deals over reckless reactionary spending.
- chilliard77

Smart targets would be

Campbell
Stempniak
Legwand

players that will have value to trade and should only command short term deals.

I could care less we lost out on Babcock, let the Leafs have him who cares. Why people throw that in the faces of Sabre fans in beyond me.

Add Parenteau and Eaves to that list. Matt Cullen too if he changes his mind about Buffalo.

We should have brought Stempniak home 2 years ago.

Matt Cullen thrives because of a deep dynamic roster the Penguins had. At this age, I don't think he would be a fit here, not how this team is currently constructed anyway.

Campbell will 100% sign in Chicago or Dallas possibly
Stempniak I would like a lot as a 3rd liner
Legwand's time is up in Buffalo

I'd go after Okposo or Boedker and also try and trade for a winger

I would take Rick Nash here in a second however, I think we would have to sweeten the deal for him to waive to come here.

I'm not complaining. If they don't make a move to bring anyone else in, maybe McGinn, I'm ready to go. Eich, Rein and ROR will all be better, Girgensons can't possibly be much worse and hopefully Ennis can come back to form. At end of year, Gionta, Larsson and Foligno were as good as any line they had. Huge reason for their late climb in points.

They offered McGinn 4 yrs 16 mill before he was traded and his camp said NO, that's why they moved him.

I wouldn't mind Boedker, but I couldn't justify paying him more than 3.75 for 4 years.
