To be honest with you, I think him staying there is the 2nd best possible outcome other than coming to Buffalo. That's not news though.

I'm ok with it. What a waste of time though.

- TheSabresTaco

I'm with you. Would have been exciting for the Leafs but it would suck to potentially have to pick and choose players in the future because of the salary cap. I hate that I have to care about a player's salary.

Are you guys kinda glad Stamkos stayed in Tampa instead of giving him$12 million?
- stonehead

Yes. I think. I was always on the fence about it. And I figured he'd probably stay in Tampa(I said this many times, I'm not just saying it now because that's where he ended up) unless he was really butthurt about the offer. He clearly wasn't enough for him to leave. They have a really, really good team. Detroit is going to be a poop show in 2 years when Zetterberg and Kronwall retire. Buffalo and Toronto while both on the way up are at least 2 to 3 years away from being contenders. That puts him at 30, and while not ancient by any stretch, you're at the end of your prime. Take the "win now" with a team and town you've said you really like, you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow let alone in a few years time.

More relieved than glad. The years and term would've been daunting, even before considering the seriousness of blood clots. But a large part of me would've loved to see him play with Reinhart.

People cared about tax rates in different NHL cities. That Stamwatch got silly AF. These Buffalo and Toronto teams couldn't be any more evenly matched in a year or two.

Yes and no.

It would have been awesome to have him here. Especially with the young core.
But the 12mm cap number was very troubling.

Cap sucks.

From the sounds of it he likely would've waived to go pretty much anywhere. He felt betrayed since last year with the captaincy thing. And apparently never really got along with coach or GM. And when your d-bag of a coach comes out and says you need to be better even though you're killing it it's probably a strained relationship.

Is it worth it at this point? Sabres are going to be good, but they still need a couple years to grow. Nash is going to be past his prime then.

I'm not a fan. Would like to continue acquiring younger, established players if possible.

If the Rags eat some of Nash salary maybe it would work. But you're probably right without looking at the numbers.

Who cares? The point was that Okposo played with Nielsen more than he played with Tavares. You're making false equivalencies again.

He played more with Frans last year than JT.

Doesn't mean I want him though.

That would be just fine...as long as it is for the Sabres.
