Think I would rather have Fehl than vanek. I trust fehr. He's also a pink guy. I think fehr can put up 15-20 goals if he's fully healthy.
I'd move fehr as the cap relief for yakupov - sditulli
Finally someone I can agree with. |

I hate that Fehr is basically the odd man out for Cap relief, because of how good the young players became. Fehr is going to look better the next two years than this one, but we are just that tight on the cap |

Everyone was rejoicing as he was one of JR's best FA signings and now all of sudden, he's a cap casualty. |

Brandon Pirri wasn't given a QO by the Ducks. He could be a cheap, depth forward with a bunch of upside, considering he scored 20+ goals 2 years ago |

A lot of us did assume last season, would be his worst due to that surgery. But yeah... due to no Kunitz or Flower move, we're just that tight. Cole also could be the odd man out, 2.1 mil for a 3rd pairing Dman is a bit high... but 2 mil for a 4th line center/winger is worse.
edit: Technically Daley's cap hit also is at fault for us being this tight... but like HELL will I put any fault or blame on him. No Scuderi, anything negative he can do gets a free pass. |

Didn't they trade for him, from Florida?
I am very interested in him for the young raw talent... but I think a pretty clear RED FLAG has to be going on. He got dumped in that trade, just a 6th rounder, and now not kept at would should be a very cheap deal by a team that could make a solid run next year.
edit: He is listed as a center, but looking up info on him has him being used on the wing (not which one is specified in what i saw), so he seems like a versatile forward. Just wonder what has teams hating him. |

He is bit of a power play specialist. Left shot that plays the right wing if I am not mistaken. I liked him at the beginning of last year but as time went on I started to wonder what happened to him and then Florida gave up on him and basically traded him to Anaheim for a couple of pucks and warm beer. He would need to signed to a Professional tryout in my opinion. |

When you think Brandon Pirri, think Brandon Sutter. He has a really good shot and is blur, but when he's not scoring he's not doing much else for you. Not great on the boards and a sub par playmaker, and he's too streaky of a scorer to balance out the negatives. And unfortunately for Pirri, he doesn't have the Sutter name to fall back on and get overvalued.
But if we were to add Pirri, he'd instantly have one of the better shots out of our forward group. Probably only Malkin, Kessel, and Crosby have better shots out of our forwards. If we could get him for super cheap, it'd be a great way to hedge our bets on the left side. One of he, Wilson, or Sheary would have to pan out on our top lines, statistically speaking. |

Okay, that explains teams getting disgruntled with him.
Nothing wrong with being a Sutter (unless you are massively overpayed, like Sutter now is)... except you are better suited to the wing and not as a center. |

There are a lot of people that don't have an appreciation for Fehr at all on this board. He will look better this year than last year. He won't be starting the season late due to surgery. Agree. |

Actually I think most here loved him during the Tampa series, and even more against SJ. Finally looked in better condition. |

Whats with the love for Yak? He put up 8 goals last year. Thats swimming near BB level of awful as far as 1st round level production. |

I wish Scuds would retire. He won't but it would be nice. Never ending pain with his contract.
Cole played very well for his cap hit. I wouldn't move him. I don't think you can find a reliable replacement for much cheaper. |

Pirri can play all three forward positions too, if my memory serves. That versatility is always useful. And Sully has a way of getting the best out of players, especially if they're fast. If Pirri is looking at a one year, 1 mil prove it deal, just show me where to sign. |

I honestly thought Scuds would retire... I was heavily under the impression that was implied with his Chi-LA trade. I think one of the two bloggers suggested that, and it made sense. |

Cheaper than Vanek, and both pretty much now being a 20 goal scorer potential. Sure, I'll scratch Vanek desires for him.
But I will not give up on Vesey until he signs. |

There's no reason to move Fehr until Sundqvist is ready to step into his role, and as promising as Sundqvist looks, there's no telling if he'll be ready by this year or next to be more than a 13th forward.
We don't have the defensive depth to trade goal. We don't have the LW depth to trade Kunitz. The only logical source of cap relief would have been Fleury. |

Exactly, but yet, a lot of people want to ditch him to make way for an enigma that has been a bust. Fehr is very under appreciated. |

Do you realize that not only are we paying his salary but Chicago is too... They are paying him 1.15 mil too... LA gets him for 1.15 mil per... Still not worth it in my opinion.

Yes, I am well aware his salary has been split 3 ways. I still was under the impression he was retiring. |

Because he is the best example in the league of someone you take a chance on. He has elite NHL level speed, shot and puck skills, he is also a decent play maker too.
If this year has taught us anything its that a player in a bad situation for them will play badly. Look at Sid before the coaching change, he wasn't even in the top 100 in scoring, people we shipping him out of here!
Yakupov is in a bad situation in Edmonton, there is a chance and IMO a very good chance that he excels here in our system and an excelling Yakupov is a bonified top 6 sniper.
Mark my words he will be the steal of the summer for whomever gets him. |
