Hopefully there is an offer on table for Schultz for either 2yr deal @ 3 mil or 3yr deal @ 2.5 mil - nh4442
I doubt there is because he's not signing either of those deals right now so why offer? At this point all you can do is keeping the conversation open and wait to see what his market value is then make a counter offer once his value is set, no need to insult him with a lowball offer.

That's not how QO offers work, the team that offers the QO get the right to match any offer another team gives the player or receive compensation in return. The Pens would have to offer Nich a contract that he agrees to and then the Stars would have to match the contract or get the compensation based off of how much the Pens offer in the contract. You don't match QOs. - jaydogg1974
I know how they work, that's what I was talking about. If pens put in an offersheet what would they give up if Dallas doesn't match....

Cap friendly has an awesome tool to determine the RFAs QOs. Nich is $874,125 - drummer829
There's just no point to sheeting Nichushkin. The highest it would make sense to offer sheet him is a pretty standard bridge deal of 1.5 mil X 2 years, which the Stars would certainly match. We don't have the cap space to take a big flyer on him and overpay, nor would it be super smart to. |

Marcus Naslund for Alek Stojanov.....DOH! - madmike71
That was a beauty. So was Jagr to Washington for Sivek, Beech and Lupasack. |

Kind of explains those Craig Patrick and his love of bourbon rumors. Throw in Eddie O as HC. |

I know a lot of people on here like to complain about the Lovejoy for Despres trade, but it could have been worse...
At least the Pens didn't trade Forsberg for Martin freakin Erat... - cap1681
No, but the Pens did draft Pouliot when Forsberg was still on the board (as well as Trouba, Koekkoek, Girgensons, Ceci, Hertl, Teravainen, and Vasilevskiy). Forsberg is still a sore spot for Pens fans. |

Let's pretend the pens were interested in yakupov for a 2nd round pick and also the stars wouldn't match an offer sheet at 2.5 mil for nichushkin. Who would you rather have, nich or yaks at 2.5 mil |

You don't think a lesser version of Kessel could help? I don't blame you if you don't. I'm just saying thats what he is. - Zac_O
No, Vanek IS the player that Kessel was falsely accused of being. That's the only similarity I see between the two. |

He just got a 6 year/36 mil deal. Roster would look very different with him on it |

Basically we wouldn't have Kessel (but would have everything we traded for him). Essentially the same salary. |

I know, it just sounds a little funny to say "at least we didn't ..." in reference to Forsberg.
As it turns out, it was very satisfying to see Kessel hoist the Cup. And hey, we won the Cup!!! |

Nichushkin but with no salary going anywhere, I just don't see how this works for us. And something tells me the Stars would match anything under 3 mil. |

If I was a team I would do it and make Dallas pay for him. Dallas is just being cheap |

No reason to freak when we're talking about 7/8 d men to push DP and to step in when injuries hit. Zidlicky's a good option that I had considered. I've been suggesting Schlemko, Warsofsky, and Diaz. Others have suggest Gryba and Bartowski. - Victoro311
I'm not sure Schlemko is going to fit salary rise because I expect him to get a raise that pushes him out of our limits and I'm not a fan of Diaz but I don't have a problem with Warsofasky, Gryba or Bartowski. I also wouldn't mind bring Dylan Reese in as a possible bounce between.

To be fair, that was one of the weirdest drafts of recent memory. Some of them 1st roundies aren't even established NHLers. The guy who went 11th overall will probably end up being the best player picked |
