And I wouldn't blame ya. As good as JP is gonna be, I would be happier with an NHL D man. As for a realistic timeline? I think we might see some action on the 29th or 30th, or maybe on the 5th after the big na,es are gone. At the latest I would hope before that poopty WC of Hockey tourney.
I think quite honestly, I won't watch the Oilers this year until they make a major upgrade on D.
Demers is not an upgrade, if you can smell my farts. - Jeropotato
I think it will happen, but it will be expensive. Oil have too many pieces not to make it happen.
But if you start watching television, I would say you should check out a show called Yo Gabba Gabba, you might learn something!

Agreed...but it needs to stop sometime.
Also...the Flames are just as poopty, so (frank) off. - Jeropotato
I maintain the healing will start when Eberle and Yak are sent packing. Hate how the team starts to slump and suddenly accountability starts to slip.
Then the situation snowballs around January until you guys get vaulted into a lottery pick/toilet.
Then it's three months of putting up with trolls non-stop in the summer, rinse and repeat season.
Dunno if you guys will get the defenseman you want this summer. Chia seems to be saying only no. 2s were available at the draft via trade. If he really does believe there's only 12 no. 1's in the league, we might see a pretty hefty trade if it happens.. |

Only going off what Chia has reportedly said. It's not my idea, but thanks for trying to make it sound like I made it up.
You're obviously Whip. Not sure how refs don't see that. I was glad to see you perma-banned and it's been a better place here without you making flames fans look bad. |

16 years of minor hockey, three years of Junior and now I coach minor hockey.
You're a two-sentence chump that hasn't brought an ounce of content since you showed up again. - fry
The content you bring up is ridic. You act like what you say is truth.

Chia pete will panic after ufa time! Wideman will be an Oiler! Then well put up with months of clueless fans telling us how he's the 2nd coming of Orr!
Wideman does have value, not just a salary dump.. |

You were trying to prey on a person that never played hockey then rip on them because you can skate.
You found out that person has played a ton more hockey than you have, then you rip on that person for growing the community by volunteering.
Your opinion belongs in a garbage can and so do you.

You volunteer? Awesome! The fact you have an option to do that is great. I've done it for 16 years. Where do you? |

on another note don't know if this has been said already, I've got season tickets to the rockets and have seen a bunch of Doobie. The kid has a ton of talent and will play a more prominent role this year. But I've also watched little Phillips 4 times this year and every time he was easily the best player on the ice! This kid is exciting and would have easily been a 1st round choice if he was bigger! Very excited that we got him! |

Trails West. Did my first year of coaching with a bantam team this year. Pretty fun.
Really noticed this year how much hitting is phasing out of minor hockey though. Sad to see things change so quickly.. |

That's awesome. No idea what this draft really brought us so far, other than Tkachuk. Need to watch these picks play before evaluating.
Will be an insane Development Camp with Janko, Pourier, Tkachuk, Agostino, Grant all pushing for spots.
Appreciate the heads up regarding Cal Foote. He looked good until I saw he'll be in lottery territory. |

I don't expect to hear anything about contracts until the end of the first week in July at the earliest.
Priorities before that will be buy outs, then assistant coaches, free agents, and the the contracts.
I think Treliving is going to look seriously at Reimer, Okposo, Lucic, Eriksson, Boedker, and maybe Ladd.
The time spent with Shero during the draft was likely done to assess the cost to the Flames if NJ were to pick up his contract. |

Wideman and a 2017 third round pick for Eberle?
I think Eberle would fit in better for calgary than lucic and okposo.plus he gives us a much needed right wing |

I heard the rfa window is coming up such that offer sheets can start coming... Does this include Monahan and Gaudreau? |

To save everyone the trouble of googling, here's the fine print (according to Wikipedia):
In the NHL, players who are restricted free agents can be, after being qualified by their current team, signed by another team to an offer sheet with salary greater than the qualifying offer. Teams have seven days to match the offer, and if the offer is not matched, the team making the offer sheet must give up compensation (see here for details). To be tendered an offer sheet, a player must:
Have at least one NHL contract expire.
Have played at least 80 NHL games if a forward or defenseman, or 28 NHL games if a goalie (applies only for players who have 3 years of NHL service).
Be younger than 27 on July 1.
Be without a contract for the upcoming season.
Be tendered a qualifying offer by the current team by June 25 or the Monday after the Entry Draft (whichever is later)
If any of these conditions is not met, the player becomes an "unrestricted free agent" and cannot receive an offer sheet. |
