Tryamkin, Gudbranson, stecher, Pedan, Olsen, brisebois, Sbisa, Candella, Juolevi. And possibly Larsen.. He started with what? Hutton cederholm and subban?? He's completely overhauled this franchises Defense in 2 seasons.. The man should get a medal for what he started with

This is exactly why the entire fan base isn't up in arms lol

By the time we move on from the sedins those free agents that we'll actually get will be 30-32, so soon after that we'll be looking again for young impact players again

I can't wait till we have a #1 line of McGinn/Sutter/Brouwer after 2 more seasons

I feel like I lost a few dozen brain cells after having read this

Olli won everything this year. He was on good teams.

I am a big believer in sending players back to junior to grow and gain experience. With the season he had. I had a very odd feeling he has nothing left to gain from Juniors. London always has a strong team. Van can send him to the WJC. If he has a good summer and comes into camp 10-15 lbs heavier.

I get to see Ivan Provorov play with Brandon for the past couple of years. He's a great player but even though on a good team is and has been beaten by 19, 20 year old forwards. Olli as an 18 year old was playing top pairing and beating the 19, 20 year olds.

I think Olli can go to the AHL due to the import draft rules? Nobody clarified this in last blog

Agreed, I also think it is better to go older in late rounds. better idea of what they will be so higher chance of success. Also the 17 y/o that doesn't get drafted will either never be worth it, or try that much harder to develop into a draft worthy player the next year.
- Retinalz

I think the opposite. go for young guys that are high risk high reward in later rounds or european guys in lower leagues could get lucky. Although it all depends on who is where, i just dont like taking an older guy just cus he is older.

Im not sure how it works. I think its something weird like if you played in europe previously you can but if you started in CHL you still have to wait to go to the AHL.

Well he played in Europe previously. If he is too good for juniors but not enough in the NHL, the AHL will be a good option. But going back to junior won't hurt his development at this time. Afetr this season it should be AHL or NHL though. Max 1 more year of junior, could argue straight to AHL if able.

You forgot Tanev and Edler.

I must say, Edler has been one of the biggest disappointments I've seen as a Canucks fan. He was supposed to be the next Lidstrom and turned into a total plug. He really doesn't do anything well anymore, except turn the puck over and shoot into shin pads.

I hope he goes back to London and can work on his offense. Then AHL the following year if all goes to plan then joining the nucks in two years.

Agreed, he should go back and be the focal point of the offense. Be nice to see him put up 60+ points

Same, the more I read up on him the more I like him. The way they talk about his Hockey IQ reminds me of Duncan Keith, and the way they talk about his play reminds me a bit of Keith and OEL.

Our defence is fine the next 2 years, what's our plan for replacing the Sedins, that was supposed to be Dubois, a forward, so why aren't we taking the next best forward and consensus best player available at #5. 29 other teams would have taken Tkachuk at #5 but Jim Benning is a buffoon

Nolan Patrick in exactly a year!! Also fwiw, the Twitterverse is starting to pick up steam with rumours that Milan Lucic is "more than likely" NOT signing in Vancouver

It's hilarious, Tkachuk and Juolevi played on the same team - and everyone on that team, from the coaches on down, thought Tkachuk was the better player. But, not Canucks fans! We know more than the coaches apparently...

Don't they play different positions?

Exactly! That is my only concern with his game is that he doesnt seem to have the offense of a sergachyov (thats why i wanted him) so hopefully this year just gets a little more confident on offense. No Dvorak or Marner next season so you will get a really good idea of where this guys offensive game is.

Since we got unlucky and didnt get a top 3 pick this year that means were getting Nolan Patrick next year. Book it

Well he put up huge numbers at the world juniors and the playoffs so the offense is there...perhaps he was overshadowed in London as there were so many dominant forwards

Therein lies the problem - were his offensive numbers in London due to the fact he was playing with top tier talent? or was he the one that actually created offensive chances/points due to his skill? and not as a result of having benefited from an all-star line-up?

As touched on, I haven't seen him play that much so am going by the bits of information that others (who have seen him play quite a bit) have provided. Hence, it's more difficult to get a proper read on what, precisely, is the overall upside and quality of this player?
