Neimelienin in the third - VANTEL
So they took a defenseman that won't play for 5 years when they will have either let some stars walk, or traded away for cap reasons. I know they will make a trade eventually, but other teams are looking for defense as well so they will bid against them, and as less become available the mroe teams will want for them. |

I Like Puljujarvi's response when asked what he thought of Columbus passing him by. He said " That's okay I prefer playing for a real hockey town anyways" - VANTEL
I missed that! Might be best quote at the draft ever |

Our defence is fine the next 2 years, what's our plan for replacing the Sedins, that was supposed to be Dubois, a forward, so why aren't we taking the next best forward and consensus best player available at #5. 29 other teams would have taken Tkachuk at #5 but Jim Benning is a buffoon |

They need to get rid of some of those NTCs otherwise they are going to lose a good player in the expansion draft next year. - A_SteamingLombardi
NTC dont have anything to do with expansion, those players can be left exposed. Its the NO Move clause like the sedins have that cant be put in play. |

One is named Boeser. He will replace Daniels scoring. |

You really gotta wonder what Chiapet is doing in EDM. Still no trade for a defenseman, and did not draft one. They will be the same crappy team as last year at this point. Even toronto has Reilly. - Retinalz
Should be eberle or hall for hamonic now if it doesnt happen just pure stupidity on Edm part |

Tough to say before free agency. Love the kulikov trade by buffalo and the draft the coyotes and oilers had. What is going on in Florida?? Buffalo must have had them at gun point to steal kulikov like that. - mauryballstein

Out of the teams that have been rebuilding which team will make the most progress this year?
Toronto?
Buffalo?
Columbus?
Edmonton?
Arizona?
Carolina? - manvanfan
Carolina, Calgary and Buffalo all have reasonable shots at the playoffs. |

That's still only 1 of 2, the organizational need is top 3 (6) forwards for sure, and we used a top 5 pick to take another Ben Hutton or a Brian Dumolin
Based on the Canucks wanting to be a competitive team they will not be getting another top 10 pick next year, so where do they think they're going to find another elite forward over that period of time? |

I like the 5th and 6th round picks too. I wish benning traded next years 7th for another 7th to take Ronning though dont know if he will good but just because of the Cliff factor Another guy in the 7th I wish we snagged was Dmitri Sokolov, huge ability but attitude factor.
The 3rd round pick was the only one that left me with the WTF...
Took a RW when we are loaded at that position.
-Abramov has huge potential
-Bitten would have replaced McCann, which would have been nice, very similar numbers and can never have enough captains.
-So many quality Dmen with Fox, Dineen, Greenway, Allard, Green and Day. - mauryballstein
I definitely wanted Bitten with our third pick. Liked the other selections though...hopefully our third rounder excels in Michigin |

New GM, flushing out Tallon's men, taking the cap space to play moneyball in the off-season |

Kulikov is really not that good. I think that's what Florida is thinking with their D. I think Buffalo will be the team that challenges for a playoffs spot out of those teams. They are using their picks to get players that the team needs. They haven't taken on a bunch of bad contracts to be in cap trouble either. |

Wait there wasn't an organizational need for a top D prospect? Great to know. Who is comparing Juolevi to Hutton and Dumolin? |

Free Agency, the draft next year. Don't have to have a top 10 pick to get a good player. |

Lots of good players left in the 3rd was kinda surprised. I just thought loosing McCann you could have replaced him with Bitten and got a very similar player. Both were point per game players and known for a two way game.
I didnt know a thing about Boeser last season so hopefully this one turns out too |

Juolevi was a slam dunk pick after dubois and puliarvi are gone we dont need tkachuk as bas as juolevi. we have never had a dman with legit 1 potential maybe other than edler. now we have one. great freakin pick

If there is one thing i've noticed about JB draft picks is the players that are going to College seem to be showing a lot of promise. Boeser late first rounder ranked 2nd best prospect in College. Demko a second rounder was picked as a goalie for the world championships (no he didn't play), Adam Guadette a 5th rounder managed to get on the list of top 100 college players. |

They did show improvement this past season and players eichel, reinhart are all showing they are improving. I think they need a goalie. Lehner seems to be always injured. |

All 29 would have taken Tkachuk? I didn't see that survey of GMs. Could you forward the link? |

Tkatchuk does nothing to address the hole the sedins will leave.
He is like JV. Defence needed attention. |

Yes, I didn't know anything about Guadette when we drafted him and he is tracking very well...hopefully our "off the board" 3rd progresses well in college |
