Don't worry about it.

No doubt. But simply 'improving' the roster from a bottom 5 team to a bottom 15 bubble team is simply delaying the inevitable.

We have finished third last this year and 6th worse the year before and yet have still failed to address the future of our top six.

believing this can be done through trades ( of which is certainly one of Bennings weaknesses) or by drafting in the 15 to 20 range is, frankly, pretty dumb.

- Whiskey-Tango

I don't know of too many teams that have made the jump from bottom 3 to top 3.

It is unusual to jump 7 spots . I think the injury issue last year, the trades, and the upgrades will put us right around a playoff spot.

Jennings looked great for the Lions and a huge punt return.
- LordHumungous

Jennings did not look that great. He could not throw long to save his life. Almost cost us the game doing that.

For all the grief Sbisa gets he did make strides last year...hopefully he continues to grow his game
- CanuckDon

Yup just pointing out he is the weak link , that is a big step up from last year when he was our projected 4 top

He is going to rebuild our top 6 through the draft which takes time. Baertchi was brought in cheap and the other trades were for depth not to replace the Sedins
- CanuckDon

As does every other team. The point being that the odds of drafting that 1st line game changer in the middle of the pack becomes inherently less likely.

Thus, where will we be in 3 to 5 years from now, likely in the same position minus the twins.

Doesn't greatest potential ever mean most room to improve and therefore lowest possible point right now?
- Canada Cup

not everything has to become the worst before it can improve.

I expect Boeser and Demko to be pushing for jobs next year.

My point is there are 18 new faces on the club at the beginning of this up coming year than there were when JB took over. In two years from now there is probably not going to be 18 more changes on the team.

The heavy work is over now promote players in and trade players out , one or two a year .

That is what I mean by the rebuild is over. Natural progression of one or two players a year is not a rebuild IMO

I think we are in agreement.

It looks like he has brought in some players like Granlund that have a bit of rope to develop, but if he doesn't see it, they will be moved, cut, whatever, another player will be brought in to replace him.

The same is likely for Gaunce and Etem, they will get their chances but it is up to the player.

Still not sure who will replace the Sedins, but how often or easy is it to find top 6 players? Not sure if Sven is a second liner, Bo could be a 2 second liner, Boeser, a ufa like Eriksson could be a first liner...

we could always sign Bonino when his contract ends with Pittsbugh and we would be guaranteed a cup.

I'm very optimistic that playing for team europe that he will learn and improve. With age, he is growing as a player.

I am not complaining about him. I am pointing out as a group last year he was top 4 . This year we have improved.

Boeser....next year we will definitely be taking a high ceiling forward. D obviously take longer to develop so I'm glad we got this pick out of the way

Hey, if Sbisa can't crack the top 6 that's a good thing! Not because I don't like him but because the kids will have made progress

I think we have 4 years to replace the Sedins. I like Bo a lot so I am not as worried as some. Also when they do go we will have 14 mil to help find an answer.

who are you hoping to play in the first round of the playoffs?

vs

who are you hoping to pick with another top 10 pick?

- RealityChecker

Should be Van vs EDM first round.

Boser, Virtanen and Horvat all have first line potential (not saying they will achieve it). Our future isn't as bad as posters are making it out to be. Goaltending and defense have been addressed for the next 8 years and our forwards will be the target going forward

True but I was not worried about the longs bombs…as the game went on his nickel and dime plays (5-10yd strikes) were really looking crisp…kid has a good arm and the long bombs will come around.
